Since our sister congregation is having their school at the same time, we will be having only workers from

In my first quarter newsletter, I men tioned the planned evangelistic crusade. We did not see any direct results from that, but we have had several new people attending.

attend our afternoon Bible Club, and Zola has been having an

over-flowing classroom on Sunday morning with secondgraders and yoimger. One of the fathers visited on a recent Sunday. Last week he was there with his wife and children.
Sometime ago a group of Christians from a congregation in Honolulu asked to park in the church lot while they went to the beach to pray. Of course, permission was granted. They talked to our preacher and wanted to visit our services some time. They did so on August 29. Many of them are homeless, and they worship at a car repair shop. Their leader told about the writing of "Itis Weil with My Soul" and led it and another song with his guitar. We had a lunch for and with them before they headed back to town. The fellowship was sweet. My Toyota is doing well, but I must take it in to get tlie
air-conditioner serviced. I'm thankful that I did buy a service contract, so the repair should not cost anything. Two persons have sent a special offering of $130 each to make a monthly payment. I'm grateful.

Start, 1 asked her if she had a question that I

could help to answer. She asked, "What is a

Christian?"! told her what Peter told the crowd

in Acts 2, about immersion, teachings from Ro mans 6, etc. She is still ''thinking'' about making a commitment to the Lord. Her sister has just had a massive heart attack. Please pray for
them.

On November 13 we wiH have our Ladies' Fall limcheon. It will be at Helemano Plantation,

which is run for, and much of it by, the mentally challenged. It is located in old buildings and dis plays show some of the history of the pineapple plantations. There are gardens, a gift shop, and a country store. A perfect setting for our pro gram. Each attendee will receive a booklet with a one-page history of each of our island congre gations. Ruth PoweU, daughter of Owen and
Shirley Still who started most of our congrega tions, win be the speaker.

The young man who hit the back end of my Colt has not paid anything - no insurance. My son-in-law pried open the back door, pounded out the bent floor pan, and was able to pull out some of the dent in the back bumper, so it is driveable. This is a real blessing with four drivers in the family. Bettina is able to drive the younger children to elemen tary school and herself and Annie to high school and bring them home. Since Amy is working and David working part time, they were unable to continue home-schooling, at least temporarily, Of course, I am glad to be able to help with un expected errands - doctor appointments, etc. 1mentioned Cheryl in my last letter. We met together af ter church one Sunday for some study time. As a place to

I'm the chairperson and registrar. Most of our churches are made up of newcomers to the island, so this wiU be an eye-opener for them.
I pray as Faff activities start in your area, that being involved in the Lord's work is at the top of your priority list. God bless!
Yours in His service.

Then, our speaker, Ruth Powell fell and broke a thigh bone as she was vacationing on the mainland. She cannot put any weight on the legfor three months. She stayed with relatives until she couldtravel, arriving here on November 10. She uses a walker but cannot manage
steps and can sit for only short periods. We are trying to arrange to have the luncheon in late January and pray that Ruth will be able to speak then. We willshare "Precious Memories" through congregational histories. Since early 1997,Zola and I have been involvedin a Sunday af ternoon worship service meeting in the Central Oahu Christian Church building. Their morning service is conducted in the Ilocano dialect of the Philippines. Years ago this was a thriving Englishspeaking congregation. Virginia Burchett dreamed of reactivating these former mem bers, but we were unable to locate many of them nor enlist new members. Our high attendance was 7 and was often 3. Then, in Octo ber, Virginia had a massive stoke even had brain surgery. She is able to breathe on her own, but cannot speak, swallow, talk, or eat, so she has a feeding tube. Since Virginia cannot attend, it seems un profitable to have Leo Douglass prepare a sermon for the two of us, so we have discontinued the afternoon service, at least for this time. Now I hope to develop something at Waialua in the afternoon with the children, ladies, or whoever. Please pray that we will find that "open door" that will allow us to minister effectively.
