COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to E-Commerce, E-Commerce Terminology, Business Models for E-Business. The
Network infrastructure for E-Commerce, Electronic Data interchange, Network Security and
Measures, Electronic Payment System, E-Market and Strategy, and M-Commerce.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This module aims to provide the students with the theoretical background of e-commerce and its
applications in business.

COURSE LOAD:
We will meet 3 hours a week as a class and complete the course over a period of 15 weeks. Please
refer to the schedule provided by the department office.
In order to successfully complete the course, students are advised to work on their course material
independently at least 9 hours a week (approximately 140 hours a semester) besides the supervised
class hours.
Supervised Class Hours: 45- 48 Hours
Independent Study Hours: 140 Hours
Students are advised to regularly refer to the course plan and prepare in advance and do the necessary
readings before you come to the class hours. Students will be able to make best use of the limited
lecture hours, if you have read in advance the contents to be covered in the following meeting.
Assessment and Evaluation
This is a small class designed specifically to encourage in-class participation, group work, and a
collaborative approach. Participants will be assessed based on the following:

Attendance Policy
Students are expected to comply with the Colleges attendance policy, and attend all classes.
Where attendance falls below 80%, penalties will be incurred. Students are also graded for
their attendance.
You may not miss the first week of any class.
If you have excessive absences, you and your parents will be contacted. You
will be in jeopardy of failure.
Students must be present at the STATED START TIME for a class and remain in
class for the duration. Failure to do so will result in the student being marked as
absent.
Due Dates and Deadlines
Students are expected to submit their assignments, tasks and projects on the due dates and deadlines
assigned. Failure to meet the deadlines will have negative impact on the grades.

Final ProjectThe final Project will include developing an e-commerce web portal along with the project
report. The final project will be a group work. The group and the project topic need to be
finalized and submitted for acceptance by Week 5. Once the topic is accepted the project has
to be developed and submitted before term end exam.
Mid Term
Mid Term Exam will be conducted in 9 th Week of the semester. The exam will be 90 minutes
long and carries a weightage of 20% towards the final grade.
Term Exam
Term Exam will be conducted towards the end of the semester. The exam will be 3 hours
long and carries weightage of 30 % towards the final grade.
