The Delphi MT88 Engine Control Module (ECM) is an electronic
device that assists the control of a vehicle's engine management
system by instantaneously measuring multiple events enabling real
time adjustments of fuel, air and spark to help the engine operate
efficiently, reliably and economically. It is designed especially for 6-
and 8-cylinder engine programs with advanced valve train systems.

The MT88 ECM offers manufacturers a flexible, full-function
solution for engine control, especially for those programs that must
meet stringent emissions and On Board Diagnostics (OBD)
standards, including:
U.S. PZEV and SULEV
Korean KULEV
Euro 3, Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 6
European On Board Diagnostics (EOBD)
OBD-M (SI-SD/I) using J1939 over CAN

The Delphi MT88 ECM features an up-integrated design that
reduces weight and wiring and its small package size enables
passenger compartment mounting. The robust design of the
module also enables under hood and chassis mounting. Its flash memory and high speed CAN communication
support in-vehicle software updates.

Delphi will provide only the hardware with a software interface, providing the customer or a third party with
flexibility for using tailored controls and calibration software.

Benefits
High featured, low cost controller includes 32-bit microprocessor with 12-bit A/D and up to 3 MB flash memory. The
MT88 ECM is compatible with in-vehicle reprogramming, advanced valve train functions and compliance with new
emissions and diagnostics standards around the world. Software and microprocessor can be configured to meet
customer requirements.
Small package size uses a high temperature, multi-layer laminate circuit board enabling mounting flexibility.
Three-connector design provides ample I/O capability, as well as improved wiring harness configuration.
Full support for sequential fuel injection applications.
Advanced spark controls support coil-on-plug applications with either sequential or waste spark operating modes.
Dual knock control provided with advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) hardware and software.
Advanced valve train functions include:
o Linear Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LEGR)
o Charcoal Canister Purge (CCP)
o Dual Independent Cam Phasing (DICP)
o Variable Geometric Intake Solenoid (VGIS)
Electronic throttle control (ETC) support provides improved fuel efficiency and emissions capability.
Two independent 500Kbps CAN (Controller Area Network) interfaces provide fast and reliable communications on an
industry standard network. Data rates up to 1Mbps are supported for programming and instrumentation.
Designed to operate in air temperatures of -40C to 105C. The housing design includes a die cast aluminum alloy to
promote evacuation of heat from within the ECM.
Controller case is designed to support a mounting bracket, or the integrated mounting feet can be used as a cost-
effective mounting option.
Designed specifically for automotive applications, the MT88 ECM has been validated for a dependable 15-year life.

Typical Applications

The Delphi MT88 Engine Control Module is designed to
support a wide variety of 4- through 8-cylinder multi-port fuel
injection gasoline engine programs, especially 6- and 8-
cylinder engine programs, for automotive and non-
automotive applications.
