News and Prayer Letter May 2014

Evangelism
Evangelization is a daily endeavor. City ministry provides a unique opportunity in that, we are constantly
surrounded by people. Even if the only time we leave our house is to get the mail, the potential is high to
see a neighbor or someone we know! This is what we want, and God is growing our desire and boldness
to share the Gospel with those we come in contact with. This last week, Dennis was at the library and
had an opportunity to share the Gospel and the joy of knowing we can have eternal life. After listening,
the person said, No one can know for sure. This is the predominant belief in Pittsburgh. It is a culture
that is steeped in religion. A religion where people continue to strive for Gods love and approval, but
they do so believing that they can never be sure that God will be satisfied with what they have done. The
more we realize this, the bigger our burden grows. Pray that we might have continued boldness to
proclaim the sure hope of Jesus Christ to people whose only hope is in themselves.

Womens Bible Study
A few of the women that we have been working with have expressed interest in a Womens Bible Study.
Please be in prayer for Val and Elisabeth as they lead this study. Pray that God might use this to disciple
and evangelize women in our community.

Team Members
Having others to plan, pray, and grow with has been a huge blessing. Sharing the load in little things
makes a big difference. Our family was just talking about how much of a help it is to have others host our
meetings in their home on Sundays. Church planting is a daily endeavor. Behind our newsletters are days
much like yours filled with work, errands, bills, and life situations that take physical, emotional, and
spiritual strength. Missions in the Early Church was a team effort. We are experiencing why and are
thankful for our team. Pray for Pete as he starts a new position at his workplace.

Funds for needs provided
We started raising support in October 2012. We were in 22 different churches, and a part of 2 different
missions conferences. Our goal was to raise 3 years of support. At times, we didnt think this would be
possible, but God burdened several churches to partner with us. With their support and the support of
the PARBC, God has met this goal. Not only has He met it, but He has provided enough for Dennis to cut
back his hours at the bank, which will allow him to focus more of his energy on ministering to people.

Time flies
Its hard to believe that 5 years ago our first daughter was born. Avalons 5
th
birthday is May 13
th
. We
thank the Lord for her, and for the privilege to be her parents. She has such as concern for others, and is
beginning to understand more and more about the Gospel and what it means to be a Christian. She likes
to have fun, too and we are having a Curious George-themed birthday party for her this Saturday. She is
such a blessing to our family.
