ABSTRACT:

The title of our project is Installation of Solar Water Heaters in
VIT Mens hostel. The aim of this project is to install solar
powered water heaters to provide warm water which, cut
down the costs and environmental damages incurred by using
the conventional gas and electric water heaters.

PROBLEM DEFINITON :

In todays world where the regular fossil fuels are being
exhausted faster than they are reproduced, there is a need for
alternative energy sources. Solar energy is probably the biggest
source of alternative energy because sunlight practically falls
everywhere on the planet for a great part of the day.

One of the basic needs of the students of VIT hostel is hot
water, and boiling or using geysers is not very environment
friendly. This is where the need of a solar water heater comes
in. Thousands of liters of hot water is used every day through
out the VIT Mens Hostel and a lot of energy is wasted to heat
the water. Solar water heater uses sunlight to heat up the
water and also keeps it hot for a certain period of time making
it much more efficient and cheaper in the longer run.

INSTALLATION OF SOLAR
WATER HEATERS
Project conception and

Project Monitoring and

Project Execution
Project Planning
Project Close
Step 1 : This is the phase where the organization decides if the
project will be benfetial or not. A team is set up to determine if
this can be realistically achieved

Step 2 : A project plan, s to be put in writing, outlining the
work to be performed. During this phase, a team should
prioritize the project, calculate a budget and schedule, and
determine what resources and man power are needed.

Step 3 : The tasks are distributed and the teams are informed
about their responsibilities.

Step 4 : Project managers will compare project status and
progress to the actual plan, as resources perform the scheduled
work. During this phase, project managers may need to adjust
schedules or do what is necessary to keep the project on track.

Step 5 : After project tasks are completed and the QC
department has approved the outcome, the water heaters are
put into use.
