CONCLUTION AND SUMMERY
I assigned for four weeks village immersion training progrmme in Eduwa Maduruduw
Grama Niladhihari division, it is beside the Godagama village and 7km far away from Matara
Town. It covers four villages namely Eduwa, Maduruduwa, Kateduwa and katupaoduwa.
The total population of the people is 1036.Ethnicity of people all are Sinhalese. Even though
this area people engaged in government sector , private sector and self employment, the
main income generated activity is agriculture. It has a very good potential land facility for
agriculture, specially for paddy cultivation.
During my village immersion period, I could be clearly understood the southern Sinhala
people life styles and their culture. Also it gave me a very good chance to test my
theoretical knowledge in real situation. For my report preparation and other village related
matters, I had to be rely on village people, when I was requested to meet them, they
happily invite me. During this period I interacted with lot of village people. I participated
some village related meeting like Elders Society meeting and Dengu prevention committee
meeting. It was a new and amazing experience for me.
According to my interviewing with public and other officers, I could find some problems
faced by village people. As per the major problem in this village is irrigation for Paddy
lands and other crops, This problem started after the implementation of Nilvala Scheme .
the proper solution for this issue is not given to farmers yet.
Economically they didnt have the strong foundation but all are in self sufficiency level.
Most of them engaged in agricultural activities for their food. Government servant and
other sectors people also involved in agricultural activities in free time. Home garden is
common one in this village.
