Plate tectonics

We know the plate tectonics in the crust is causing volcanos, earthquakes, fossil distribution, and age of
rock. The volcanoes is an opening in the crust which allows hot magma, volcano ashes and gases to
escape. Earthquakes is the shaking in the ground as the movements in the earths crust which has the
plates to slide by each other.

A subduction zone is the site where the plates slide under another, usually an oceanic plate going under
a continental plate. This will cause trenches, earthquakes, and volcanos. If there were no plate tectonics
for the volcanos, there would be volcanos everywhere. If there were no plate tectonics for earthquakes
their would be no earthquakes. There for we need plate tectonics to not have volcanoes everywhere
and have to have earthquakes.

All the continents were all once connected. Over time they all drifted apart from each other. The cause
of them drifting apart from each other was because the plate tectonics were moving we know this
because the fossils were found in other different continents. They had to be all once connected because
the fossils couldnt have swim across the big ocean.

How the age of the rock relates to the plate tectonics, are that the newer rock, and the plates are
moving real smooth. When it gets to the older rock, the plates start going under the crust. The newer
rocks are mostly found in the middle of under the ocean. The older rocks are found spread out from the
newer. Right after you see or find the newer rock you find the older rock on the side of the newer rock.

In conclusion if there wasnt any plate tectonics we wouldnt have any earthquakes, volcanoes would be
everywhere, no fossil distribution and no ages of rock. The reason why is because we absolutely need
tectonic plates. We need them for some volcanoes, earthquakes, fossil distribution and to find out the
age of rock.

Reflection
What does it mean to argue from evidence?
When you are arguing from evidence it means u have your claim and youre backing it up with all the
evidence you have.
Why is arguing from evidence important to a scientist?
Arguing from evidence is important for scientist because it helps you and others understand your claim
and all of your evidence you have or collected.

Why is arguing from evidence important to you?
It is important to me because it helps me understand my claim and if I collected the right evidence to
support my claim. Also it helps me if I go back and re read I will understand it with all of the evidence I
had to back up my claim.
What did you learn about yourself as a student as you worked on this essay?
I learned that I am getting a little bit better every time I do an essay or report. It helps my writing
become stronger and helps me understand better
