Pastafarianism is a Real Religion

Intro
o Definition- an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules used to worship a god
or a group of gods
o This is very broad and could fit many things
o But because Pastafarianism is based on satire, people say its not a religion
o Thesis Based on this definition, Pastafarianism is a perfectly valid religion.
Using the Definition
o Pastafarianism is very organized
o Just the fact that it has a Gospel is proof that its organized
o There are specific beliefs and practices
dressed in His chosen garb: full Pirate regalia
o Ceremonies
enjoy Friday as His chosen holiday.
o These practices are no less valid than any other religion simply because they are based
on satire
o Pastafarians worship the FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster)
The more you read about us the more you're going to be persuaded that the
Flying Spaghetti Monster is the true Creator
o All the stuff they do is to worship this guy
How is this any different than any other godly figure?
Once again, satire doesnt mean its not real
Pastafarianism is not a Cult
o Some people believe theyre a cult, and therefore not a valid religion
This is just stupid
Cult is defined as A small religion group that is not part of a larger and more
accepted religion and that has beliefs regarded by many people as extreme or
dangerous
Pastafarians are not extreme or dangerous
What do we stand for? All that is good. What are we against? All that
isnt good.
This may seem like a stupid and obvious message but its actually much
better than most religions garbled messages
Cult in itself is a religious word, so making the connection that being a cult
means Pastafarianism isnt a religion just makes no sense
And The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster clearly states that theyre not a
cult, so that should put it to rest
you, fair reader, might perceive FSMism to be just another two-bit
cult. But we're not a cult (we're more like a boutique religion at this
point), and this is a book that will stand up to any of the othersat least
in terms of strict plausibility if not literary finesse and retributive
beheadings and disembowelments.
Theyre right in saying that it would stand up to any other religion
Pastafarianism is based on as much fact as any other religion and
therefore should not be considered invalid any more than the other
religions should
Conclusion
o Restating of thesis
o Pastafarianism really isnt that different than other religions
It projects good vibes
Doesnt restrict or prosecute people
o Connect to real life
Other religions can learn from Pastafarianism because it treats people correctly
