Piano Lab Semester 2 Final Exam Review

- You will be given a blank sheet of manuscript (music/staff) paper. I will then list elements
for you to write/draw, and you are to place them correctly on the staff. Elements might
include clef symbols, time signatures, key signatures, bar lines, braces (to connect a
Grand Staff), notes of different values, rests of different values, double bar lines, repeat
signs, dynamic markings, etc.
Example: 1. Draw a treble clef on the first line.
2. Draw a bass clef on the second line.
3. Join those two lines to form a Grand Staff.
4. Directly after both clef markings, write the time signature that means 4
beats per minute/quarter notes get one beat.
5. Place eight notes that receive one beat each on the middle C line, E
line, F space, G line, E line, D space, F space, and C space of the treble
clef.
6. Draw two rests worth 4 beats each in the bass clef.
7. Place a bar line in the appropriate place to signify the correct time
signature.
8. Draw a double bar line in the appropriate place.
*In order to prepare for this section, it is important to know the parts
of the staff, the different kinds of notes/rests and their beat
values, and where the notes are placed on the staff.

- * Be prepared to determine the total number of beats when multiple notes are
added together.
