ESLO #1: Disciple of Christ 25 April 2014 Disciple and leadership It is a fact that for every creation, there must be a creator and a specific purpose. For instance, God had his own very unique resolution in creating the world and the lives that have been reproduced in it. He created us out of his holy imagination and love, therefore he loves everything he created and wants us to love and obey him in return. Although God loves us, he is sinless, holy, and cannot tolerate our sinful nature in which we as humans have decided to live in. Spiritual salvation among everyone is one of Gods main plans. Moreover, faith in Jesus Christ is the key required for us to have eternal life in our Fathers kingdom. God gave man free will allowing everyone to turn away and disobey Him; this is the result of our sinful nature. In the other hand, Ive been trying to use that free will to turn myself back to God through my faith in Jesus Christ. My actions and act of faith have been building up my eternal life in Jesus Christ. When understanding Gods plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, faith comes first. I have demonstrated my faith in God through my time in Medical Mission International (MMI), high school bible classes and during my summer time of 2012 in the United States. During my time in Medical Mission International at Las Matas de Falfan, I stood as a disciple of Christ. My actions and choices taken there demonstrated a good understanding of Gods plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. My key motivation and focus in Las Matas de Falfan was to please God in all aspects of my time there. The first day in MMI consisted in classifying the different types of medicines and setting them up in selected boxes. Under those circumstances, I decided to help the team that was filling in bags with toys and dental material. This was a great example for my servant leadership in that community because I was evidently setting an example for others. During the second day, the medical team which was the one I was part of headed up in our first destination; a rural area. Once we got there, Pastor Dave brought the idea that most patients might not be only going through physical problems but with spiritual ones as well. Therefore, I was asked to translate for the pastor and his preachings. I was then told to tell a little bit about some of my experiences as a Christian and my relationship with God, and demonstrating my understanding of Gods plan of salvation. This small speech was centered in persuading the patients to talk to the pastor about any kind of difficult situations they could be going through. This was a day in which I used my knowledge of Gods plan of salvation to these patients spiritually healed. My good actions and Christian leadership revealed good examples of my moral understanding of Gods plan of salvation. My high school Bible classes with students from different cultures have given me the ability to understand the differences between various worldviews and biblical worldviews. At Doulos I have taken optional classes on world religions and multiple other classes that have demonstrate me how to keep going on the right Christian track. Taking world religions in the past years were getting me educated to work side-by-side with people that were practicing different faith traditions in the larger efforts shared by all faiths. My Bible class at Doulos is shaped with a diverse multicultural influence in which Im continuously communicating biblical truths and my personal faith through words. In this class I had the opportunity to study different biblical passages and come up with my own personal view as well. To illustrate, in many classes we have been asked to write our biblical view about a certain biblical passage from the bible. We also got the chance to watch videos of apologists communicating their point of view about Christianity. I also learned to look for the study notes of certain verses of the Bible leading me to better understand these biblical perspectives and Gods plan of salvation. Having all this kind of diversity in my school has also helped me to better shape my life in many ways based on a variety of biblical messages. I have been getting exposed to different cultures since I stepped inside of Doulos four years ago opening my mind as I grow in ways that I could have never understood if not being taught to me at this young age. This multicultural experience helped me to better understand various worldviews and making me a stronger disciple of God. This multicultural bible class gave me the ability to better understand various worldviews which ended making me a stronger disciple of God. During the summer of 2012 I also demonstrated an intrinsic faith and discipleship in many ways. I built meaningful relationships that ended influencing my life and the people around me. There are many members from my family that grew up in a very Christian atmosphere leading them to be true Christian followers in the present. In 2012, I visited New York for the first time and stayed in the popular city of Brooklyn. My family from my dads side is very devoted to the Christian belief. They go to church every Sunday and they would always take me with them. This helped me to build meaningful relationships in their sphere of Christian influence. On Tuesdays, this church used to have Bible study with people that wanted to hear more about the Word of God. This Bible study taught me some differences between various worldviews and a Biblical worldview since every Bible study was directed by different people with different biblical views bringing diversity to these religious studies. As a disciple of Christ I also got the chance to donate and help collect money to help Christian churches in the Dom. Rep., this helped me build meaningful relationships in this big Christian sphere. Going to the states in 2012 ended positively affecting my relationship with Christian people and my discipleship in Christ. Faith has been the quality that has guided my decisions and actions; this is an example of Gods presence in my life. The fact that Im not a perfect creation leads me to take wrong choices but my faith in God maintains me empowered to keep being a Christian servant leader. I understand that Gods plan of salvation depends on many different factors, faith in His son Jesus comes up as a crucial one. Ive been trying to take the Bible and Jesus life as examples to become a good servant leader opening doors that only true Christian followers can go through. My long week in Medical Mission, high school bible class, and summer of 2012 vacation have been gifts that were given to me to keep strengthening my relationship with God. These times of my life have demonstrated an understanding of Gods plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. Medical Mission International marked my life by allowing me to use my gifts, knowledge, and skills to be a servant leader in this international community of doctors and set an example for them. My Bible class has helped understand the differences between various worldviews and a Biblical worldview. This class also contributed to my ability of been able to evaluate my own belief based on those biblical perspectives and respectfully communicate biblical truths. My summer time of 2012 in the United States helped me build meaningful relationships in a whole new sphere of different influences. The strengthening of my discipleship wont stop here; theres still a whole new future to come that will keep empowering my relationship with God and His teachings.
