SON RISE RIDERS

Chapter #462
August 2009

From the Heart

Important Dates
of your President
August 2009 Isn’t it great to be in the heart of the riding season?
1st Chapter Mtg @ 9:00 a.m. (Breakfast My July ride schedule started with the July 4th
@ 8:00 a.m.) meeting and ride after, Friday Night at Woodson
2nd Cross & Dagger Biker Sunday Motorsports for 3 weeks in a row, 2 Cross n Dagger
At Life Bridge Church Ft. Wayne
rides and meetings, an attempt to make it to the
Marion County flat track races, a couple of personal
13th thru 16th IN CMA State Rally
rides, and the “ABATE Boogie” for four days… My bike
is kind of enjoying the garage for a day or two.
September 2009 But in my mind, of all the events or rides I took part of
5th Chapter Mtg @ 9:00 a.m. (Breakfast in July, the one that truly stands out was the ABATE
@ 8:00) Boogie.
Why the Boogie? I guess because to me it really drills
October 2009 home the why I got involved in motorcycle ministry, and
3rd Chapter Mtg @ 9:00 a.m. (Breakfast the Who that God has called me to reach. It also gives
@ 8:00 a.m.) me the opportunity to make all of my talents available
21st-25th CMA National Event at Iron to God.
Mountain ,Hatfield, AK This year Paula & I were blessed to be able to plan the
Contact-Missy Parmenter menus, and do all the cooking for the State CMA
870.389.6196
Ministry Team at the Boogie. Was it a lot of work, yes
but it was also something that both Paula & I really
enjoyed doing.
For more information on the events,
Were we blessed, absolutely! Did we also have
please contact: Jack Lorence or Ben Hun-
sicker opportunity to minister to ABATE workers, and bikers
that came just to party and blow off steam? That
ministry opportunity was there for us as well.
Frequently we are asked, “What did we see” at the boogie? I thought I would list a few of the
things we did get to see this year.
As a Ministry Team, “we got to see” a biker accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
“We got to see” countless ABATE workers say “Thanks CMA” for being here for us, for
bringing us a cold bottle of water, and for supporting us as bikers.
“We got to see” countless bikers that had too much to drink, or too much party, stop in our
ministry tent and say thanks for the coffee, cold water, and cookies & for praying for me.
“We got to see” the biker who was camped behind us & who had been working on his sport bike
all afternoon say thank you to Phil Brown & myself, as we helped him get his bike running.
“We got to see”, the bikers on all three sides of our camp say thank you as we shared our food
with them, taking over breakfast-lunch-or dinner & just sharing food and Jesus’ love.
Paula & I “got to see” the impact, you our Chapter had when you supported the CMA State
Ministry Team by providing the food this year. Marlene shared how many times she and
Phil have worked hard to stretch the budget to cover their meals at the Boogie, and this
year all they had to do was come and minister. You as a Chapter member maybe didn’t
attend the boogie, but you still had an impact.
“We got to see” CMA as it is intended, there when they needed us, & as I started off… winning
Bikers to Jesus, one heart at a time.
Next on our Ride agenda… The CMA INDIANA STATE Rally, join us as we travel to Marion IN,
and combine with hundreds of other CMA Members in worship, ministry, fellowship, FUN “bike
games”, and great group rides.
Until August 14th when I see you at State…

Ride Safe / Know Jesus

VICE PRESIDENT’S CORNER
Well, I just got back from the boogie. Last year God showed me just how much He loves all of
us and particularly those at the boogie. It helped me to want to share the love of God with
everyone there. This year God showed me just how much sin hurts Him. We forget how much
our sin hurts Him. He is the king of the universe, all powerful nothing can hurt Him. He is God!
You can’t give your one and only Son for the sins of the whole world and not feel pain when we
do things that hurt us, others or go against His will. Feeling all that pain for the whole
weekend was very hard. It made me realize just how much work I have to tell a lost world that
there is a better way and that sin always hurts someone, particularly God. Remember that the
lost in the world don’t know that sin hurts God, but we as Christian should know. So live your
life so as to not bring pain to God, others or yourself. Let us also continue to reach out to the
lost so they too may learn of the love of God.
Yours in Christ,

Phil Brown

TREASURER’S REPORT
We serve a wonderful God! I am sure all who have had a personal experience with Him realize
this. However, it does not hurt to tell God how wonderful He is, nor does it hurt to express it
to the world.

As most of you have heard, my car caught on fire while I was driving it at the Boogie. I had
gone to the gas station to pickup charcoal for a dutch oven dessert I was fixing and was
returning to the CMA campsite when it happened. I am so thankful I was not on the highway
where people would not have been able to get my attention to pull over. Again, the fields are
white and ready for harvest – Satan knows this and he is fighting to keep Christians from the
fields.

I cannot tell you how many A.B.A.T.E. leaders and workers came by the CMA campsite to tell us
“thank you” and “you really do not know how much we appreciate you here.” “Ready when you
need us” that is our motto in CMA. We plant seeds, water, and sometimes harvest. Whichever
part we get to do, Praise the Lord, what a blessing!

SECRETARY’S REPORT
Have you ever noticed how the enemy attacks us after we have spent deliberate time in the
presence of God and other Christians? I arrived home from National Rally and got
hammered... I must admit that with trying to get back into a normal routine, unload the van
and trailer and keep the house clean and check on the garden and go to doctor's appointments
and deal with a three year olds’ behavior (boot camp has indeed started) and... etc. that I have
not spent quality time with the Lord... Guess what??? The enemy always has time to
attack! We are in a spiritual battle and I got lazy. I forgot to put on my armor and to spend
quality time with my Lord and Savior! I allowed the devil a place to rest and have spent several
days struggling... Have you ever felt like this? Are you under attack now? Let's build each
other up in prayer...you never know who is under the attack of the enemy, who is tired and
might need filled up, who is busy, who might be hurting... Let's remember to pray for each
other, to pray for the CMA, to pray for our leaders, to pray for our country, to pray for our
soldiers, to PRAY!!! Let's remember that Fort Wayne is our battle zone and the bikers and
men, women and children we minister to and share Jesus with need PRAYER! There are a lot of
events coming up and even some that we do not know about. Let us pray for those on their
motorcycles and in their vans as they go and do the work of the Lord. If you are not attending
an event you are still able to participate...PRAY! You never know when someone is under
attack... When we step into the battle zone Satan comes at us guns blazing... put on the Armor
of God and prepare to fight the battle. We have VICTORY in JESUS!!!! this is true but satan
is a sore loser and wants to take as many to hell with him as possible! Let us know if there is
anything that we can join with you in prayer... Let us know if you are attending an event and we
will pray over you... Let us know if you are riding and let us pray for you...
Please pray for me as I get focused back on my Lord. Satan isn't happy with me but my Jesus
is!!!

CHAPLAIN’S REPORT
Just yesterday I was walking through the plant when I passed by a couple whose wedding I
had recently performed. They were sitting at a picnic table eating and talking. I had my
earplugs in as I am trying to learn from generations before mine to save some of my hearing
ability for later on in this life. (I know what you all are thinking and yes, I wear them when I’m
ridin’ the Valk!) As such, I did not hear anything they were saying.

Later in the night, the husband asked if I had heard what his wife was saying. When I told
him no, he began to explain that there was a person that his wife was just starting to work
with who is, apparently, a little abrasive with her faith. The wife was telling her husband that
she was just gonna tell this person that she was a witch, etc. to just get this person to leave
her alone. It was right then that I had passed by. When I did, her husband said, “Shhh,
there’s our pastor!”

Later when I saw them walking out, I asked her if she had felt convicted. I asked her if she
thought it at all strange that at that very moment, I walked by. She kinda chuckled and said
she had just been kidding. But, I could tell the wheels were spinning.
For those who don’t know, I work in a very large plant with multiple buildings. I may go days
without seeing this lady. It just struck me how I was in that particular part of the plant at
that particular moment. My very steps lead me to that point at that time. Even without
knowing or hearing anything, those very steps had made a difference.

I am well aware that “my righteousness is as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6) but am equally aware
that the Blood of Jesus Christ has washed me “white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18) and made me
righteous in the eyes of our Heavenly Father. Therefore, my steps are indeed ordered by God
even when I don’t realize it.

The same is true for all of you who walk through secular motorcycle events, or around the gas
station where you stop to fuel up your scoot, or around your place of business, etc. Your steps
are being ordered by the Lord. You wear a patch on your back that people identify. They know
you either are or should be representing Christ. You are making an impact whether you know
it, see it or hear it.

Where have your steps taken you today?

Blessed Beyond All Reason,

Hollywood

Lyle Moser received his back patch at our July meeting. He worked through the CMA work-
book on his own choosing to be part of the Prison Ministry. Lyle has a heart for those who have
made decisions that have lead them down the road to incarceration. Lyle found himself impris-
oned for two years for choices he had made and wants to help others understand that God has
something better for them. He loves helping others and wants to be lead by God as he contin-
ues to mature in his walk with Christ. Lyle is also a member of the Cross N Dagger ministry at
Life Bridge church. He has 4 children and enjoys working on restoring motorcycles. He is cur-
rently working on restoring a 1976 Honda CB200T. His current ride is a 2007 HD Street Glide.
Let’s all take time to welcome Lyle into our chapter!!

For those of you who missed the July meeting. We want to thank Phil and Marlene Bontrager
for all of the help and guidance that they have given our Chapter. We really appreciate and
love you both. We also want to introduce our new area reps Glen and Georgie Artley. In next
months’ newsletter we will learn about Glen and Georgie and their ministry.
As we launch a new Son Rise Riders Newsletter, with Pam & David Kirvan taking over as editors
& chief, not necessarily in that order. I want to recognize a very special Lady Rider in our
Chapter, Darlene Bell.

Darlene has consistently demonstrated her faithfulness to God & our Chapter, providing her
services as Newsletter Editor for the past two and a half years. Darlene has been patient
with Chapter Officers that always seem challenged to write timely articles, she has been the
guardian of the spell & grammar check, and always with a sweet smile, a prompt and reminder
that each of us has a talent that we can make available to God.
Darlene, thank you for making the Son Rise Riders Newsletter happen, but more importantly,
thank you for being a part of our Chapter as a friend.
Ride Safe, and even in the Big Rig share Jesus.
Thank You,
Jackson & the Officers and Members of
Son Rise Riders

Everyone, I want to thank all who gave me a chance to be a part of your lives. I also want to
thank you for what you did for my nephew, niece, and sister.
Initially, being in the club, and then becoming an actual officer was an awesome experience,
and one I knew the Lord wanted me to do. I will forever remember the "prayer chair" which
touched me so deeply. It was nice to see others who weren't ashamed to worship our Lord out
loud.

Many of you are very dear to me, but all played an integral part in my Christian walk. I have
love for you deep within my heart that I will forever cherish. You are special people to me,
and I was blessed by each and everyone of you. I know I will see you all again....if not here on
earth, then with our Father in Heaven.

Please keep in touch with me, and know that I love you all.

What is CMA?
C.M.A. (Christian Motorcyclist Association) is a nonprofit organization that has more than 950
chapters chartered in the U.S. and is in 25 other countries around the world. The main purpose
of C.M.A. is to share the love of Jesus with other motorcyclists. This happens by attending
motorcycle rallies, races, and rides, etc., where the gospel is shared.
Once a year CMA (Christian Motorcyclist Association) on the first Saturday of May, all across
the USA and Mexico have a fund raiser. Each chapter plans a 100 mile motorcycle ride and all
the money raised goes to Missionary Ventures, Open Doors, the Jesus Film Project and
ministry to motorcyclists right here in the U.S.A. CMA is not a Christian Club or riding group
designed to segregate Christians from the influence of the world, but rather to help send each
person into the world by spreading the light of Jesus in dark places

For more information about CMA you can contact a chapter near you by locating them on the
CMA web site at www.cmausa.org

WE NEED PICTURES FOR OUR WEBSITE!!!

Please feel free to take along your camera to our many upcoming events and capture the fun
