The Global Information Network was first introduced
to the Buddy Cruise in Washington, D.C. at our 2013
Family Reunion event. When we asked the Buddy Cruise
founders about their reaction to the donation from GIN,
they commented: We are still trying to wrap our heads
around the generosity of the club!
I
t all started with Joseph. The found-
ers of the Buddy Cruise, Pam and
Jorge Arnoldson, were blessed
with baby Joseph. They soon discov-
ered that Joseph had special needs and
began to connect with other families in
similar situations.
While at the official Buddy Walk in
New York City, the family realized they
were not alone. Many families had chil-
dren and adults with special needs that
lived completely normal lives.

The family returned home completely
inspired and uplifted! So much so
that they decided they wanted to do a
Buddy Walk right in their home state
of Florida. There was only one thing
holding them back: All that walking
in New York City had left all of
their legs pretty tired! Thus, the
Buddy Cruise was born on
November 4, 2008. Operat-
ing solely on donations
and grants, the Buddy
Cruise is able to continue
its mission.

THE GOAL OF THE
BUDDY CRUISE CHAR-
ITY is to provide educa-
tional opportunities and
resources for families, while
promoting awareness, accep-
tance and inclusion for individu-
als with special needs. The Buddy
Cruise Charity is equipped to handle
all disabilities of people from all
age groups. Everyone needs
to know that children and
adults with special needs
CAN STILL LIVE INDE-
PENDENT LIVES!

Another goal of theirs
is to empower special
needs teachers to be
able to teach kids that
people with disabilities
are just like us!
They like to swim, play
with their friends, get
educated, travel...You get the idea!
That is where Buddy Cruising in the
Classroom comes in. Buddy Cruising
in the Classroom is a program that
teaches kids without disability that
kids with special needs are
the same as them it may just
take them a little bit longer to
get there. Were implement-
ing a program for schools that
will teach typical children
that children with special
needs are like them, teaching
inclusion & acceptance. We
will have this program modi-
fied & delivered to school
personnel, teaching benefits
of inclusion, etcwith assis-
tance from the National
Down Syndrome Society.
The Buddy Cruise Charity
chooses a new organization
each year to give something
back. Many times they give
to an organization in third
world countries, low income
families with special needs
children and adults, special
needs awareness groups and
more! Donations include books,
resources and other valuable
items designed to assist those
with special needs as well as
raise awareness.
As GIN Members you
know the best way to
get ahead is to give
back. If you cannot
donate cash, but have
a larger ticket item to
donate, consider giving
to the Buddy Cruise
silent auction. On each
Buddy Cruise, a silent
auction is held to raise
funds for the cause.
Some examples of items
you can donate include:
Vacation packages,
Moms packages, Dads
packages, kids packages
and other items that
may help families with
special needs.
"Buddy"
is the first
special needs
mascot!
