General description
The Ch series of fans has been designed to satisfy various needs in many fields of industrial
applications. They are mainly installed in civil and industrial conditioning systems, in drying and dust
removal plants, on spray booths, on boilers, on kilns, etc. Careful design of the casing and of the
two different types of impeller that can be fitted has allowed us to create this extremely versatile
series of fans with the best performance for their field of use. The robust construction is one of its
main features. The bearings are designed for a minimum duration of 40,000 hours; the thickness of
the sheet steel, the position of the strengthening and of the ribs are designed to guarantee an
absence of vibrations and pulsations. The Ch fans are built in 19 sizes with impellers from 400 mm to
2,450 mm in diameter.
The impeller ChA has 12 airfoil type blades welded to a front aerodynamic profile cone and to a rear
disk. This configuration allows a performance of up to 90% to be reached with a consequent very
low noise level. This type of impeller is ideal for fluids without dust and with a relative humidity rate of
less than 80%.

ChB
Impeller with flat
reverse blades
The impeller ChB has 12 flat blades welded to a front aerodynamic profile cone and to a rear disk.
The performance is high because it can reach up to 86%. This type of impeller is ideal for fluids
containing fine, dry and non abrasive powders or those with high moisture rates.
The ChB fans have been tested and approved in France by the CTICM laboratories for continual
operation at 400C for 2 hours. The laboratories of the CTICM are approved by the French Home
Office.
Layout 1
Bare shaft fan ideal for coupling with a motor by means of a transmission unit.
Layout 9
Coupling with transmission unit. The motor is fitted on the seat side. Maximum fluid temperature
100C without cooling fan and 300C with the fan.
Layout 12
BST
Coupling with transmission unit. The motor is fitted on a suitable basement. Maximum fluid
temperature 100C without cooling fan and 300C with the fan.
Layout 12
Basement
The motor is fitted on a suitable basement. Maximum fluid temperature 100C without cooling fan
and 300C with the fan.
The different positions of the motor are defined by the letters W or Z for Layout 9 and 12, looking at it
from the transmission side, and do not depend on the fans direction. Unless specifically requested,
the motor is fitted opposite the outlet.
Layout 4
Impeller directly coupled on the motor shaft. Maximum fluid temperature 80C without cooling fan
and 200C with the fan.
Layout 8
Impeller and motor are connected directly by a mechanical joint. Maximum fluid temperature 100C
without cooling fan and 300C with the fan.

Noise level
The LPA noise levels indicated in the selection curves are global sound pressure levels expressed in
dBA referred to 2*10-5 Pa, averages of 7 field measurements on a free field at a distance of 1.5 m
from the fan body in compliance with ISO 37413746 standards with tolerance of +4 dBA (DIN 24
166). The sound measurements are performed with an electric fan positioned on the floor and not
surrounded by reverberant walls, with the inlet free and with piping fitted with a diaphragm on the
outlet to measure the sound pressure level at the different points of operation according to the
diagram reported below and pursuant to the ISO standards mentioned above. The control motor is
extremely quiet so the noise measured only concerns the fan.
In order to have LWA sound levels by octave band it is necessary to sum the corrections reported in
the following tables, which have different values according to the zone of emission and to whether
channels are present or not, to the LPA global sound pressure value:

This insulation is made with a layer of rock wool 100mm thick and with a density of 120 Kg/m.
Externally it is protected with a galvanised steel or aluminium sheet 0.8-1mm thick. The noise

The abatement of the noise obtained with the insulation is summed to that produced by the Casing
in the layout with both the inlet and outlet channelled, that is after applying the correction indicated in
the previous page. The different installation and operating conditions may greatly modify the noise
values indicated on the catalogue. There follows some of the most significant and most common
examples.
A
With variations of the distance, there is a reduction of the LPA sound pressure values indicated on
the diagrams. The reduction is different if the fan is installed in a free field (situation AA) or inside a
building considered to be partially reverberant (situation BB). The table below indicates the reduction
values according to the distance expressed in metres in the two different situations:

Situation BB shows how the environmental conditions may considerably alter the sound pressure
values measured in free field.
B
If the real operating point of the fan does not coincide with the one selected on the catalogue curve,
it is possible to have a noise variation even of 3 dBA.
C
The normal anti-vibrating joints, positioned between the fan and piping, cause an increase in the
noise in the environment that can be quantified at 2 dBA. If necessary particular aphonic joints may
be installed to reduce or cancel the noise increase.
D
In varying the direction of the inlet flow, the flow regulator generates a noise of approximately 9 dBA
which is added to the catalogue LPA global sound pressure.
E
The calibration valve on the delivery side of the fan, by creating a resistance to the fluid, generates a
noise of 3 dBA which is added to the catalogue LPA global sound pressure.
Electric motor
F
Since an electric motor does not increase the overall noise of the unit, it is necessary to foresee a
type whose noise is at least 10 dBA less than that of the fan. Otherwise the total noise R of the
system will be given by the formula:
V
R = 10 log(10 10 + 10 10 )[dBa]
where
V
Noise coming from the fan
M
Noise coming from the motor
The values to be summed must, of course, always be homogeneous, that is both global noises and
both LWA powers or LPA sound pressures.
10
Flow regulation
Flow regulation may be obtained either with counterpoised fin gate valves on the outlet or with flow
regulators on the inlet. Both of these systems have all the external blade fluid passage control
mechanisms and thus may be used with powdery air and with temperatures of up to 300C. The
torsional moment Mt in Nm, at the axis of the control lever, is reported below for the maximum
number of revs of each class.

Correction of the
performances according to
temperature and altitude
The performances are valid for volume masses 1.20 Kg/m3 t=20C Pb = 101,325 Pa (760 mm Hg)
like air at sea level. For other conditions, it is necessary to correct the pressure requested by
multiplying it by K before selecting the fan on the catalogue. The operating power rating is obtained
by dividing the catalogue one by K.

The performances are valid for volume mass: 1.20 Kg/m^3, t=20C, Pb=101.325, Pa (760 mm Hg) like air at sea level
V=flow rate (m^3/h) - ps=static pressure (Pa) - pt=total pressure (Pa) - pv=power rating (kW) - LpA=sound pressure at 1.5 m in free field (dBA)
