AGENDA:
1. Welcoming Address
1.1 The head of department welcomed and expressed her thanks to all members for
attending the meeting. She congratulated all English teacher especially those
teaching in the lower forms for a good achievement in the PMR examination
2010. She also extended her welcomed to our new panel member Pn. Badrul
Nisak Bt Ahmad. The Head of Panel urged all English teachers to be supportive
and cooperative in order to achieve better results.
2. Appointment of Panel Secretary
Pn. Aisyah ask nominated that the present panel remained. Her nomination was
seconded by Pn. Mardiyati.
3. Current Issues in T&L
3.1 Teaching Strategies/Techniques.
3.1.1 The head of panel expressed her thanks for the concerted effort in the
quantum leap of the English language PMR result which increase from
57.7% to 73.5%. The form three teachers then shared the strategies used in
the teaching which had led to the achievement.

3.2

EL Scheme of work. The head of panel informed that the scheme of work
would be ready by next week and modification/amendments could be made
accordingly. All teachers are reminded to complete the poems in the literature
component by mid-year as it will be sat in the mid-year exam.

3.3

Teachers were reminded to send in their Record books and exercise books
according to the schedule given by the senior assistant. She also reminded
teachers to write the reflection.

3.3.1 The Kontrak Latihan Pelajar (students Writing Contract)
The Head of Panel briefed the teachers on the implementation of the
Kontrak Latihan Pelajar 2011. Teachers are required to state the number of
written exercises given to students at every end of month. Stamp-pads for the
purpose will be given later.

3.4

SBOA it will be conducted as follows:

Forms 1, 2 and 4
- twice a year (February - May) - (July September)
Forms 3 and 5
- once a year (March July)
Teachers are asked to complete the assessment before the specified times.

3.5

PMR Post-mortem
The head of panel inform that the non performing classes had contributed to
the achievement in PMR examination 2010. Pn Ismaliza told the other
members that the students in 3 Bestari were very good and they were able to
write good composition. They were given a task to write at least one
composition every week. They were also asked to find other supplementary
compositions. Some of them were self-motivated and wrote even more essay
then prescribed.

3.6 English Language Programmes
3.6.1 The head of panel listed some English language activities and programmes
conducted last year. She then suggested a reading programme which is a
collaboration between teachers, parents and students. It aims to inculcate
good reading habits among students.

Time Table
3.7.1 The head of panel asked all teachers to submit their time table for the
panels keep.
Action: All English teachers

3.8

Setting of Test and Exam Papers

3.8.1 Teachers are reminded to refer to the hand-out on setting the test of exam
papers.
Action: All English teachers

4. Other Matters
4.1 En. Mazlan requested for younger male English teachers to be recruited into the
panel as there are few male English language teachers. Furthermore he added
that younger teachers are more energetic, self-motivated, reach in new ideas,
technique and strategies in teaching English.

The Head of panel reiterated on The Spirit of Comradeship, cooperation and support
between the English language teachers to produce students who could use the English
Language in their daily activities beside producing better English language results in the
public examinations.

The meeting was adjourned at 3.15 p.m.
