Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
CO1 Explain technical, social, environmental and economic challenges of wind turbine systems. [PO1,LO1]{C2} CO2 Analyze main parameters in wind turbine design, including wind characteristics and wind turbine aerodynamics. [PO2, LO3, SS1]{C4} CO3 Conceptually design a simple wind turbine that meets the specified requirements. [PO3, LO2]{C5} CO4 Evaluate the performance and characteristics of the conceptual design wind turbine. [PO4, LO3}{C6} CO5 Present design project in a professional manner. [PO9, LO4, SS2]{A2} CO6 Work in a group as a team member. [PO10, LO5, [S3]{A3} Course Description
The course covers principles of wind power production, design of wind turbines from aerodynamics point of view, location and design of wind farms. The modeling and analysis aspect of the topics discussed in the class will be illustrated with examples and case studies.
