Global dimming
Definition:
Global dimming is the gradual reduction in the amount of global
direct irradiance at the Earth's surface.
Global Dimming is when pollutants mix with water vapour and form clouds.
The clouds which formed reflect the heat back into space thus lowering
heat caused by global warming.
But there is also a bad side to global dimming.
The Good Side of Global Dimming?
Global Dimming has several good things about it that help us as humans to
save our planet.
First, Global dimming actually hides the power of global warming.
Second, Global Dimming actually prevents the temperature from rising to
far by blocking heat.
The Bad Side of Global Dimming?
Because of Global Dimming the water in key areas has cooled and has
resulted into less rainfall. This has led to bad crops or droughts for longer
period in many parts of the world.
Global dimming has the potential to impact the Asian monsoon, the Asian
monsoon brings rain fall to 3 billion people. If this the monsoon gets
impacted the Global dimming impact will get elevated from millions to
billion peoples deaths.

What should we do?
We as humans need to be balance so that both Global warming and Global
dimming can be kept in control.
We need to reduce our dependence fossil fuels and turn towards green
technologies.
We need to create tighter regulations for industries so that gas emitting
from factories can be reduced or contained to acceptable levels.
We need to create awareness about Global warming a global dimming in
every part of world.
We need to protect or natural resources such as forest, oceans and snow
capped mountains.
Why should we donate money to help study Global Dimming?
We should donate to Global Dimming because: It can cause huge droughts
and many health effects.
We should also donate because millions of people are affected by us driving
to work.
And the most chilling fact of all, Mother Nature is dying and if she dies she
takes us with her.

According to a report, decrease in 0.3 degree celcius of temperature of
Earth per year leads to Dark Planet of Earth in 300 Years

OBSERVATIONS on GLOBAL DIMMING:
Early studies carried out in the 1990s pointed to a remarkable decline of
surface solar radiation (SSR) at selected observation stations between the
1950s and the 1980s. These pioneering studies were based on sites in Europe
(Ohmura and Lang 1989), the Baltic (Russak 1990), the South Pole (Dutton et
al. 1991), different regions globally (Stanhill and Moreshet 1992), Germany
(Liepert et al. 1994), and the former Soviet Union (Abakumova et al. 1996). By
now a comprehensive literature exists that confirms declines of SSR during this
period in many places around the globe (e.g., Gilgen et al. 1998; Stanhill and
Cohen 2001).

According to Professor Ramanathan

The director of centre for atmospheric sciences, he further elucidates the
theory that air pollutants in the space are responsible for 10% reduction in
sunlight radiation on earth. He explains the process formation effect of how the
pollutants are attached with water molecules from the cloud. Naturally,
rainfall is produced by attached water vapour on naturally occurring airborne
particles. But in the event where polluted air is dominant in more tiny
particles that would have occurred naturally, they tend to form tiny rain
droplets in the cloud. The formed tiny rain droplets in the cloud therefore
reflect back the radiated sunlight into the space. This phenomenon reduces the
radiation strength of the sun.

Effects on Agriculture:
Reduction in solar radiation or temperature causes the slow down process
of photosynthesis in plant growth which in turn affects the agricultural
production. Dimming causes ecological problems such as changes in evaporation
and rainfall patterns and photosynthesis rates. Droughts and/or increased rainfall
cause problems for agriculture.

Conclusion:
We have to prepare well planned ideas about how to reduce Global
Dimming as well as Global Warming. We need to reduce our dependence fossil
fuels and turn towards green technologies. We have to concentrate on how to
effectively use the Renewable energies like
sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat
