Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Cincinnati, OH 1/1994 - 1/2004
Principal Engineer
Developed and implemented a state-of-the-art Component Process Capability database using Access to
determine process capability in the design of new products
Managed the transition of the Krytox DF/XF process to TLF-9510/XF, increased throughput on existing
equipment by 50%, procured a second system, and saved $850,000 by eliminating the need for a third
station and bringing product back in-plant
Created a rapid transfer process for RMI and Open Manufacturing, resulting in a 50% reduction in the
amount of time to complete one of these product transfers, and saved over $200,000 in the transfer of
PSX, HCS, Phoenix, Talon, Raptor, Pre-pack, and Blades and Grips
Produced equipment and process to coat and cure the tip of the Indigo fiber with an Acrylic coating in
order to prevent breakage in the field for an annual savings of $160,000
Established Jabil Global Services as a qualified Service and Repair center for EES, and consolidated
Service and Repair operations into Jabil from SeaMed, Plexus, Medtrex, and Indigo.
Developed and implemented a LIM process for manufacturing the Actuator Seal at AK Rubber,
dramatically improving overall process yields by 25%.

Created a high volume, low cost 2 1/2 disk drive, with total responsibility for the project, including
design, manufacturing and marketing
Achieved industry benchmark costs, with the single platter version costs in the $60 - $70 range

o Outstanding example of DFM, with fewer than half the components in a typical disk drive
o Leadership shock and vibration, with non-operating shock >1,000gs for short duration shocks

Created and staffed a world-class test equipment design and build group
