VIAs BusinessPass Program
TheVIA BusinessPass Program is a corporate incentive program that allows businesses to provideVIAs monthly Big Pass to their
employees on-site. Every month VIA delivers a number of monthly Big Passes to participating businesses on consignment. Each
business then provides the passes to their employees at cost or at a reduced rate, depending on whether the company wishes to
subsidize the passes. At the end of the month, the company just pays for the passes that have been issued to employees. Its a great
commute solution. For infomation, call 362-2377.
Bike & Ride
Take your bike on the bus! Every VIA bus has a bike rack, and it takes only seconds to mount your bike and be on
your way. For more information regarding linear creekways or the bicycle network, go to www.sanantonio.gov.

Special Event Service
VIA provides express bus service from select locations to many large events in the San Antonio area such as Spurs
games, Fiesta, the Folklife Festival, and concerts. This special event Park & Ride service is the best way to beat the
traffic and parking hassles. Refer to event listings in the newspaper or visit VIAs website for more details on VIAs
special event service.
Your Comfort & Safety Rules
1. Do pay the right fare. Have correct change or your bus pass ready.
2. Do wear shoes and shirts. Theyre required.
3. Dont eat or smokeonboard and dont bring drinks except in spill-proof,unbreakable or screw-top containers.
4. Dont litter or vandalize any VIA bus or facility (writing, tagging or other damage).
5. Dont bring anything hazardous or illegal. No alcohol, weapons, explosives, car batteries, flammable liquids,
illegal controlled substances, etc.
6. Dont talk to the driver while the bus is in motion, unless there is an emergency.
7. Dont cuss or fuss. Fighting, arguing, profanity, spitting, harassing others, etc. will not be tolerated.
8. Dont annoy other riders. No yelling, loud cell phone calls, radios/MP3 players without earphones, etc.
9. Do keep the aisle clear of grocery bags, strollers, packages or carts.
10. Be safety conscious:
Stay seated until the bus has completely stopped.
Use handrails at all times as the bus may need to stop suddenly and unexpectedly.
Do not block the back door for exiting passengers.
Other Tips To Ride By
Be at your stop five minutes early.
Transfer slips must be purchased when boarding.
Please reserve the seats in the front for the elderly and riders with disabilities.
Board through the front door and exit through the back door.
Never cross in front of the bus
Once a bus has departed a stop at a transit center it cannot stop inside the drive area to pick up passengers.

Primo, VIAs first Bus Rapid Transit service, will get you
where you need to go quicker and in more style than ever
before. Features of Primo include new exclusive passenger
stations with real-time information, stylized articulated
buses powered by CNG, freeWi-Fi on board and the use of
technology to adjust the timing of traffic lights just for Primo
vehicles. During the daytime hours Primo runs every 10
minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on weekends.

Vanpool service is designed for groups of 6 or more commuters who want
to share the cost of driving to work. The vans are provided at a low cost
through an agreement between VIA and its vanpool provider. The price
includes a VIA subsidy, insurance, 24-hour roadside assistance and all van
maintenance. One member of the group drives and maintains the van in
return for riding free.

Semester Pass $35
Allows students unlimited rides on regular, express, and Primo service
throughout the semester indicated on the pass (Spring semester is
generally January through May, and Fall semester is August through
January).
One Day Pass $4.00
Allows unlimited rides on all bus and Primo service for the one day
indicated on the pass.
VIA passes are available online at www.viainfo.net and at
all VIA Information Centers. In addition, there are many
retail outlets that sell Big Passes. Student Semester Passes
can also be purchased through the Bursars office at many
colleges. Passes are not accepted on VIAtrans or special
event service.

Discounted bus and Primo fares and passes are available to the following:
Seniors (62 and older)
Students
Persons with certain disabilities
Medicare recipients
Children 5-11. Children 4 and under ride free.
AVIA Reduced Fare ID is required and must be presented when boarding
in order to pay reduced fares or use discounted passes (children are
not required to show ID). Call Customer Service to obtain the proper
identification.
Transfer Slips Transfer slips must be requested when boarding the
bus. These slips are valid as fares for equal or less expensive bus service
for 2 hours from time indicated on slip on date issued. Additional fare is
required when transferring from regular service to express service.
Holiday services
Bus schedules may change on the following VIA observed holidays:
New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving,
Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Eve. Please look for holiday
notices on the bus or call Customer Service for specific holiday schedules.
VIA services for riders with disabilities
VIA Metropolitan Transit provides a variety of travel options and
programs for its customers who have disabilities.
Accessible Bus Service
Most VIA buses have ramps or lifts for ease of boarding and have two
spaces for persons in wheelchairs. VIAtrans customers who are eligible
to use a bus for some trips can ride the bus at no cost. One companion
and one personal care attendant traveling with a VIAtrans customer can
also ride the bus for free. Persons with limited mobility who do not
qualify for VIAtrans may be eligible for a reduced fare. Please refer to
pocket schedules for accessible routes or call (210) 362-2020 (TTY 362-
2019) for bus route and schedule information.
Travel Training
Customers who need help learning to use VIAs fixed-route system
can request travel training assistance by calling our Accessible Services

VIAtrans Service
VIAtrans is a specialized transportation service for persons with
disabilities. Advance reservations are required, and VIAtrans riders must
meet specific eligibility standards.
VIAtrans serves all addresses inside Loop 410, every day of the year.
Beyond Loop 410,VIAtrans travels to and from addresses within 3/4 mile
of a VIA bus route on days when bus service is provided.
On this map, 3/4 mile is approximately equal to one inch. You can use a
ruler on this guide to estimate the 3/4 mile distance along either side of a

Downtown San Antonio has so much to offer, and there is no better way to see the sights
than on VIAs downtown transit service. Our service runs from early morning until late
evening, and our circulator routes come every 10 minutes. With downtown transit you
can go from Alamo Plaza to just about anywhere in downtown San Antonio within 10
minutes.
