Fire fighting Equipment
What are the requirements for
Ships
Terminals
Page 3of 12
Ships
When a tanker is alongside a berth, fire-fighting
equipment is to be ready for
immediate
immediate
immediate

use
Onboard the ship, this is achieved by fire hoses with
spray / jet nozzles connected and run out forward
and aft of the manifold in use. Having portable dry
chemical powder extinguishers available near the
manifold provides protection against small flash fires

immediate

use. The preparations for
emergency operation of the fire-fighting equipment
should be communicated to the tanker at the pre-

cargo conference
Consideration should be given to having portable
extinguishers available for use adjacent to the jetty
manifold area

International Shore Fire Connection
All marine terminals with a firewater system should
provide at least one international shore fire

which water could be supplied to a tanker's fire main
if required for shipboard fire-fighting
