Description of the project/s to be undertaken (Please do not describe the organisation) Specific details of the project/s to be delivered, with any associated milestones and targets.
The project is the development of the adult engagement strand of The REPs work, developing opportunities for our audiences to explore our programme through various participatory activities, talks, events and interactive front- of-house installations that complement the main theatre programme.
Interns role within the main placement project Specific details of the role to be undertaken by the intern and details of the activities that the individual will undertake.
The intern will work alongside the Creative Producer to develop the front of house installation programme and a programme of participatory opportunities for adults to engage with our productions. This will include a series of talks, events and discussions.
The first events will be a series of workshops over October half term: Workshops for parents to create special effects make-up for Halloween with their children, and lantern making workshops for all ages, working towards participation in the Birmingham City Centre Christmas lights switch-on parade. Followed by installation of the lanterns in the foyer.

The intern will also work with the Creative Producer to develop and programme events and activities for the Spring and Autumn 2015 seasons and explore funding opportunities for future developments.
Purpose of the placement What will the intern gain from the placement, to be described in terms of skills, knowledge, experience , competencies and networks to be developed.
The intern will develop facilitation and communication skills, knowledge about the way in which regional theatres operate, experience of working in the performing arts industry and networks with other arts organisations across the city and other theatres nationally
They will gain practical experience of exhibition development and installation, event management and volunteer management.

The REP will benefit from increased capacity to develop this strand of work, which is a relatively new focus for the organisation, particularly the front-of-house installations.
Each of the previous Cultural Interns have been a valuable addition to The REP team and we look forward to working with another intern to bring their ideas and creativity to our programme.
