Dear Parent/Guardian
I am writing to you in reference to a planned educational excursion to
London as part of the GCSE Religious Studies course. Within the GCSE
course, students must be able to identify and analyse major world
religions and their impact in modern day Britain.
The proposed excursion will take place between Friday 18th April and
Sunday 20th April 2014 (3 days and 2 nights). We will travel to London
via the train and use the underground system over the course of three
days. We will visit St Paul's Cathedral, the Neasden Hindu Temple,
Regent's Park Mosque, Sikh Gurdwara in Southall and the Buddhist
Temple in Wimbledon. Each of these visits will include tours and a chance
to view traditional practices to broaden students minds. We will visit the
Science Museum in South Kensington as well as the British Museum to
enhance students historical knowledge and understanding. We will arrive
back in Manchester on the 20th April 2014.
The cost of the excursion is 160.00 per student and includes bed and
breakfast at the Best Western Palm Hotel, entry to each of the religious
places of worship, museum entrance, underground travel tickets, rail
travel tickets and the necessary insurance.
This is an educational excursion which will not only help students with
their understanding of the Religious Studies course but also provides a
unique opportunity to gain an insight into how religious principles are
used in practical situations in everyday life.
If you would like your child to be part of this unique learning experience,
please return the attached consent slip with a deposit of 60.00. I can
then proceed with the next stage of finalising the booking.
