Hasl ers work focuses on constructi ons of i denti ty and col l ecti ve desi res, and i s characteri zed by a tensi on
between attracti on and repul si on. The works i n the Desi re seri es, i n parti cul ar, focus on the obsessi on of
proj ecti ons of affl uence and gl amor. Reworki ng desi gner bags, shoes, and accessori es i nto organ-resembl ant
scul ptures, Hasl ers works engage wi th the psychol ogi cal aspects of consumeri sm, bl urri ng the l i nes between
what you are and what you must have.

Hasl ers i nstal l ati on embodi es the epi tome of l uxuri ous excess, and l ooks to a dystopi c future, where branded
organs may one day be the ul ti mate fashi on accessory.
Andrea Hasl er was born i n 1975 i n Zri ch, Swi tzerl and, and currentl y l i ves and works i n London, UK. She hol ds
an MA Fi ne Art from Chel sea Col l ege of Art & Desi gn, and her work was recentl y exhi bi ted at the 1st Santori ni
Bi ennal e of Arts i n Greece, 2012. Her recent sol o exhi bi ti on Irreduci bl e Compl exi ty wi l l be featured i n the
upcomi ng documentary Snapshots of Shoredi tch, l ooki ng at the peopl e, cul ture and underground scene i n the
East End of London. Hasl er al so chai rs arti st tal ks at Next Level Proj ects and regul arl y l ectures on contemporary
art, wi th a focus on women and the body, at vari ous i nsti tuti ons i ncl udi ng the Sotheby's Insti tute of Art, London.
