Phase)
Application Form and Information

Purpose:
As agreed by the Management Board, the Computer Service Centre will allocate portable
computers to all full-time academic staff, in phases. This plan intends to support teaching and
researching tasks, to increase the level of IT adoption, and to enhance teaching materials
preparation by accessing updated information from anywhere at any time.

Target Population:
All full-time academic staff (with exception of academic staff in project-based
nature/independent budget centres)

Purchase and distribution phases:
1
st
phase: Already completed by Q1 2010, all course coordinators and full professors are
covered;
2
nd
phase: Planned to be completed by Q2 2010, all associate professors will be covered;
3
rd
phase: Planned to be completed by Q3 2010, all other full-time academic staff will be
covered.

Portable computers specification and pick-up date:
Portable computers are mainly the lightweight portable computer (will not equip with
CD/DVD burner and floppy drive). By default, these computers will run the latest multi-lingual
version of Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007. The exact hardware specification /
brand & model and pick-up date will be notified by e-mail after the tendering process is completed.


Regulations and Terms:
Portable computers are assets of the Institute, and must be used strictly in accordance with
the terms of 22 R/CG/CINF/2009, The Macao Polytechnic Institute portable computer
management regulations (Chinese only).

In addition, according to the Chief Executive instructions, 74/2002, portable computers
have a life expectancy of four years. Therefore, once a portable computer is allocated, it can be
replaced only after that period. Since all full-time academic staff is covered by this plan and
everyone will have equal opportunity to get new models of portable computers from the market,
thus you may consider applying one at a later stage.
