MUSIC GRADE 8

I. OBJECTIVES:
Identify the definition of music
Recognize the different genres and appreciation of music on every individual
Realize the effects of music to every individuals life

II. SUBJECT MATTER:
Sub-Concept: Introduction to music

III. PROCEDURE:
A. Motivation
Get to know each other
- Since it is the first day of the class, the teacher first introduces himself to the students.
After the students recognize the name of the teacher, the teacher will ask the students
about their favorite genre of music and what the meaning of music to them.

B. Development of the lesson

1. Review: The teacher will review the meaning music and their genres.

Music vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce
beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

Genres:
a. Jazz A style of music, native to America, characterized by a strong but flexible
rhythmic understructure with solo and ensemble improvisations on basic tunes and
chord patterns and, more recently, a highly sophisticated harmonic idiom.

b. Rock a type of popular music with a strong, loud beat that is usually played with
electric guitars and drums.

c. Hiphop a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements: rapping, scratching and
break dancing. Other elements include sampling (or synthesis), and beatboxing.

d. Classical - serious or conventional music following long-established principles rather
than a folk, jazz, or popular tradition.

e. Pop - music of general appeal to teenagers; a bland watered-down version of
rock'n'roll with more rhythm and harmony and an emphasis on romantic love.



2. Activity: Meet and Explain
Direction: On a sheet of paper, write your name and list down your favorite song or
songs of all time that refers to your own personality and explain why it is your chosen
song.

3. Application: Raise up and explain
- Students will individually stand in front of the class and will introduce themselves to
his/her classmates. For additional appreciation on their classmates using their chosen
song from the activity, the students will also explain in front of the class the song they
have chosen and why does their chosen song refers to his/her personality.

IV. EVALUATION :
Recognizing others
Directions: Since you know the difference of your classmates to yourself when it
comes to music appreciation. Get a sheet of paper and write down what do you feel
about the difference of your chosen music compared to your classmates.
V. ASSIGNMENT:
Selfie artists and lyrics
1. Bring a picture of your favorite artist/s on our next meeting.
2. Write the lyrics of your favorite song on 1 whole sheet of paper.
















LESSON PLAN IN
PHYSICAL EDUCATION III

I. Objectives:
At the end of the 60 minutes lesson the students should have;
a. Determine their anthropometrics measurements:
1. Body Mass 3. Height
2. Sitting Height 4. Arm Span
b. Recorded accurately their data at the physical fitness and the sports talent form
c. Found pleasure in the determining their anthropometric measurements

II. Contents:
a. Subject Matter: anthropometric Measurement
b. Materials: chair, ruler, blackboard, chalk, tape measure, index card
c. Reference: Revised Physical Fitness and Sports Talent Manual
III. Procedure:
A. Motivation
What are your height and weight when you are in grade five? How about your height when
you sit? And even your arm?
Class what do you think is the reason why I task all of you to research about anthropometric
measurement?
The teacher will be given new groups that will determine their body height and body mass,
sitting height and arm span
B. Developmental of the lesson:
1. The teacher will explain the purpose of each kind of test, the equipment to be used and the
procedure for the test.
Why do we need to know the measure of our height and weight or even the sitting height and
arm span?
Ok class now I will group you in four groups each group will send to the different station and
you should have to finished the task that they assign to you. Using the materials like tape
measure and etc.
I would like you to record your analysis on the index card.
Class who among you knows how to measure the height, body mass, sitting height and arm
span?




2. The teacher will be assigned to station in which they moved and start the test.
The first group will be test is the group one and they will give 10 minutes to finish all the
station.
3. The students will proceed to the next station until all station have been taken up.
First station: Measuring Height
Second station: Measuring Body mass
Third station: Measuring Sitting Height
Fourth station: Measuring arm span
C. Generalization
The students will determine their anthropometric measurements with accuracy.
D. Evaluation:
Recording of the Anthropometric measurements.

ART EDUCATION III
I. OBJECTIVES:

Identify and describe the highlights of the baroque period
Recognize the famous works and persons during the baroque period
Show appreciation of elaborate crafts by describing its unique qualities

II. SUBJECT MATTER:
Sub-Concept: Arts History and style
Materials: Visual Aids, Black board, Manila Paper
References: Music and arts III Baroque Period pp 164 - 167

III. PROCEDURE:

a. Motivation : Group Activity
Butt spell dance the student will be grouped
1. A chosen leader will be the spell actor or the dancer
2. Every group must pick a folded paper provided by the teacher
3. The word on the folded paper is the word that will be spelled by the leader using his butt
4. The group mates must guess the word
5. The team with the high score will be the winner

b. Development of the lesson

Review:

1. Baroque era - describes the style or period of European music between the years of 1600 and
1750
2. The term Baroque was derived from a Portuguese word meaning "a pearl of irregular shape

Things to Look for in Baroque Art:

a) Images are direct, obvious, and dramatic.
b) Depictions feel physically and psychologically real. Emotionally intense.
c) Extravagant settings and ornamentation.
d) Dramatic use of color.
e) Dramatic contrasts between light and dark, light and shadow.

Activity: Classroom Activity - Crossword Puzzle
Directions : The students must look for the surnames of the baroque period artists inside the
crossword box. There are 5 artists inside the box to look to.

Application: Pictures
Directions : The students must determine the artist of the picture shown by the teacher inside the
class

I. Objectives:

Give the meaning of Music in Africa.
Enumerate the uses if Music in Africa.
Determine the importance of Griots.

II. Subject Matter:
Materials: Pictures , Stereo, Manila Paper and Blackboard
Reference: MAPEH II, Lesson 13 and 14 (Vocal Music and Instruments of Africa)
pp. 69-76.

III. Procedure

A. Motivation:
I want you to listen carefully to this song and describe it. Tell to the class what you have observed from
the song.

B. Presentation:
That is just on example of the Music in Africa. And it shows that song that their songs, music are really
alive.
Now I will teach you how to sing this song and we will use our hands in order to make it alive.

C. Development of the Lesson
Music is an integral part of the lives of the African people. To every African, music is closely related to
every aspect of their lives. It goes much deeper than just singing songs for rituals or special ceremonies.
African music is functional. It is used for worship, courtship, easing up hardwork and entertainment. And
the most important it is used as a means of communication. It is basically an expression of life through
sound.

D. Generalization:
So class? What is Music in Africa?
Yes, very good!
Music is an integral part and it is just more than singing.
How about the griots? Are they important class?
Very good!
Yes, they are important because they are highly-skilled musicians and they pass on the tribal tradition and
history.
And the uses of African music are for worship, courtship, easing up hardwork and entertainment but the
main used is.....
Yes, Credo!!?
Very good!
That is communication.



E. Application:

This time I would like everyone to participate and kindly count 1 to 4. All 1 would be here, 2 here, 3
there and 4 over there.
Now each group will present "Kye Kye Kule" with the handclapping. The best group would receive 10
points and the rest 5 points.

IV. Evaluation:
Keep away all your notes now and get 1/2 sheet of paper.
