Our experience in designing microprocessor controlled dimmers helped us create a range of linear, flicker free dimming CFL lamps These lamps are capable of being dimmed with conventional dirnmerswltches and digital dimming systems This capability allows even greater energy savings and flexibility of control

Luna lamp light output is measured In accordance with BS5225 Photometric data for luminaires, photometric measurements. The lamps are run for 100 hours before being tested at an ambienttemperature of 25°C. This IS to ensure that the lamps reach the stated lumens and lumens per Watt output after 100 hours of use.

Luna lamps have an aVErage life of 10,000 hours. The

use of solid mercury alloy (amalgam) rather than liquid mercury, a protective layer of alum inurn oxide between the glass tube and phosphor coating and the use of high temperature electnnic components in the ballast lead to a realistically long life

Luna lamps use only 2mg of amalgam (solid mercury alloy) rather than liquid mercury Amalgam is safe and prevents the release of toxins during manufacture of the lamps. It remains in a solid state at room temperature preventing the leakage of mercury should a lamp break. Amalgam can be far more easily recycled at the end of lamp life, lamps have better light output and live longer than liquid mercury lamps.

What's the diflerence?

At room temperatures, mercury is in the form of a liquid metal. Conventional fluorescent lamps contain this material but It is recognised that when such lamps are being manufactured, disposed of or are broken, the tOXIC liquid mercury and its vapour will escape and contarn nate the envi ronment

Amalgam is a mercury alloywhich, at room temperatures, IS asolid metal. It must be heated to 100°C before mercury vapour IS released. This means that the amalgam "Pellet" can be extracted and recycled at the end of lamp life.

What are the benefits?

Aurora compact fluorescent lamps do not contain any liquid mercury and as such cause no harm to the environment By using minimal amounts of Amalgam (around 12mg far less than the EU regulation of 5mg), Aurora lamps offer the reassurance of helping the environment through zero liquid mercury and the Amalgam can be recycled again reducing harm to the planet
