Gay marriage, abortion not the threat?

The following is a response sent to Newsday in Trinidad and Tobago on June 5, 2014, when the following article
was noticed (Gay marriage, abortion not the threat By Andre Bagoo Sunday, June 1 2014;
http://www.newsday.co.tt/news/0,195593.html )
We have no knowledge at this time if the response will be published by Newsday!
Dear Editor,
The article makes for painful reading, since it avoids ... like every anti-Christian argument on this troubling
subject ... the responsibility to address fact, truth, detail, evidence, and logic.
"Gay-advocacy", and its defence thereof, may perhaps signal the end of the law, the end of evidence!
It essence, when the sum total of the evidence militating against Ivor Archie's comments is considered, his
"advice" to Christians becomes foolishness masquerading as scholarship. It is premised on the hope, or the
certainty, that Christians ... do not read! And that they (Christians) fail to understand that secular evidence
agrees with the Biblical position!
I have learned the hard way to deal forcefully with an inclination to passivity by some Christians, and their
gullibility for the glib garbage peddled by "legal advisors" like Ivor Archie, by just referring to the opposing
"dissent" arguments in settled legal cases in the USA.
Let's take two examples ...
The fact that gay-advocacy is using the American Bar Association and judicial tyranny as a central instrument in
their push to "convince" Christians that their position is "wrong" should be warning enough to Trinidadians, and
to Ivor Archie. Newsday should urge its readers to read Justice Antonin Scalia's read/written dissent in Lawrence
vs. Texas in 2003, when he was forced to make the following point, inter alia:
"... At the end of its opinion - having laid waste the foundations of our rational-basis jurisprudence - the Court
says that the present case "does not involve whether the government must give formal recognition to any
relationships that homosexual persons seek to enter," Ante, at 17. Do not believe it! ..."
We know now, in 2014, that he was right!
You literally have to read this dissent to understand the liberties that the court took with hitherto settled law.
Ivor Archie, in this stunning act of attempted disinformation, is trying to do the same thing.
Secondly, your readers should also look at the 40 pages of dissent that followed the 2013-ruling in USA vs
Windsor, in which a liberal-leaning Supreme Court of the USA found basis (in 25 pages) to redefine "marriage" as
previously outlined in the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Hint: when a 25-page ruling is followed by 40 pages
of dissent, Christians had better take notice ,,, and READ!
The bottom line is ... homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality and transsexualism (constituting the "community"
that defines the LGBT movement) are the ONLY psycho-sexual disorders or pathologies so diagnosed that see as
their inevitable and non-negotiable ends the destruction of key creation-structures in the Christian world-view
... manhood, womanhood, sex, family, marriage, fact, truth, detail evidence, logic!
How significant is this?
Simply put, the existence of the one means the nullification of the other!
So ... just how comfortable are Christians in Trinidad with being "told" by Ivor Archie what their roles are
relative to their very survival?
And we havent even touched abortion as yet
To place the context of Ivor Archies comments and (perhaps uninformed/unintended) misinformation and
deception in perspective, Catholics in Trinidad need look no further than the online article Pope: Abortion, gay
marriage among world's greatest threats( http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/2010-05-13-pope-
abortion-gays_N.htm ). Ivor Archie, in effect, rails against the Pope, against Catholics, against common sense!
Yours faithfully
Roger Williams

It was the very liberal Michael Kirby AC, CMG that once said that Good law is based on good data and (words
to this effect) the very least that our elected officials and legislators could do is to become acquainted with the
details of an issue before ruling on it.
