Act 5 Scene 3
(Back in Venice)
Lodovico, Gratiano and Duke of Venice enter. Servants enter holding Iago.

Duke of Venice: Why is Iago tied up like a dog?
Lodovico: He committed horrible crimes!
Duke of Venice: What crimes did he commit?
Gratiano: He is responsible for many murders!
Duke of Venice: What murders did he commit?
Lodovico: He lied to your old general Othello. Told him his wife cheated on him which is untrue. This led
Othello to think Desdemona had an affair with his lieutenant Michael Cassio. Othello killed Desdemona
in fury. Desdemonas attendant Emilia went to tell Othello of the chaos that occurred in the city the
night of the murder and found her dead in their bedroom. She told Othello of her husbands villainous
ways when she figured out all the lies Iago told Othello, and then we entered the room to find out of all
the evil Iago had created. Iago then killed his wife for foiling his evil plans and ran out of the room.
Luckily we captured him and Othello stabbed Iago before taking his own life.
Duke of Venice: Oh my! What chaotic events did Emilia want to report to Othello? (Looking at Iago)This
man deserves to be punished for years to come in the cruelest ways!
Gratiano: The chaos that Emilia wanted to inform Othello about was that Roderigo stabbed Cassio due
to Iagos doing. Cassio was able to defend himself and killed Roderigo and luckily Cassio still lives.
Duke of Venice: So much death occurred in one night. Where is Cassio?
Lodovico: He remained in Cyprus, he will come to Venice when he has recovered.
Duke of Venice: Who is taking care of him? Does he have servants to attend to him?
Gratiano: I dont think he has any servants but he wont need any. His whore will surely take care of
him. She would had taken the stabbing for him if she could. If only she knew he plans to keep her
around only until he heals then he will leave her.
Duke of Venice: Can you get a messenger to send a letter to him. I want to assure him that these events
did not strip him of the title I placed on him. He will still be governor.
Gratiano: I will to do that this instant.
Gratiano exits.
Now for you Iago. Do you feel any remorse?
Iago: No! Of course not! I should have been lieutenant. Othello deserved what he got and Cassio should
have died! Shameful he didnt. Next time Ill kill him instead of leaving a weakling like Roderigo do it! I
should have been given all the titles that he earned. I have seniority over them, does that not mean
anything anymore? I am a better candidate than both Othello and Cassio combined.
Duke of Venice: Do you not care that Desdemona and your wife were killed in the process of getting
what you desired? How can you be so selfish?
Iago: No, I do not care for those women! Women are all unfaithful anyways. Those sinners deserved to
die!
Duke Of Venice: Lodovico, take him to the torture chamber. He will be punished for ten years before
finally being executed by hanging. His punishment shall begin tomorrow.
All exit.
