Chapter 1: English Language Teaching in the Post-Method Era: Toward Better
Diagnosis, Treatment and Assessment.

This chapter is about different kinds of searches for many pedagogical experts,
with the purpose to find the ideal method and approaches that would successfully
teach Ss a foreign language in the classroom. According Anthony an approach is
a set of assumptions dealing with the nature of language, learning and teaching
and method is defined as an overall plan for systematic presentation of language
based on selected approach.
Those are not a set of static principles, I really like a phrase that said set in stone
because in fact are a dynamic composite of energies that the teacher should
change, the best teachers are able to take risks in the classroom.
Exist so many current approaches to teach a language, but those are a few ones
that I really feel interesting about:
Automaticity
Meaningful learning
Intrinsic motivation
Self-confidence
Risk taking
Communicative competence
Our profession has emerged into an era of understanding a vast number of
language teaching context and purposes and an even large number of Ss needs,
learning styles and affective traits.

Chapter 2: Theories of Teaching in Language Teaching.

Language teaching can be conceived in many different ways, different views and
different leads as to what the essential skills of teaching are. This involves
developing teaching principals from research on memory, transfer motivation and
others factors that I believe are important in learning.
Learning training is an approach which draws on research cognitive styles and
learning strategies used by learners to carry out different classroom tasks. The
essential skills that the teacher needs to acquire are those that reflect the theory
and spirit, teachers should not set out to look for a general method of teaching or
to master a particular set of teaching skills, but should constantly try to discover
things that work, discarding old practices and taking on board new ones. In this
chapter I learned that we as teachers need to be updated in different kind of
things and also take into account that teaching a foreign language needs to be:
understand the learning principals, develop tasks and activities based on learning
principals and monitor Ss performance on tasks to see that desired performance is
being achieved.

Chapter 3: Lesson Planning.

I really felt motivated when I started to read this chapter because even Im a
teacher are things that I never take into account when I planning a class. Teachers
need to plan what they want to do in their classrooms, The success with which a
teacher conducts a lesson if often thought to depend on the effectiveness with
which the lesson was planned. This phrase makes feel very motivate to plan
better my classes and be more careful about what I want to teach.
The lesson plans help the teacher to think about the lesson in advance to resolve
problems and difficulties, to prove a structure for a lesson, to provide a map that
the teacher follow and also provide a record of what has been taught, to feel
more confident, to learn the subject better, to enable lessons to run more smoothly
and to anticipate problems before they happen.
Planning is especially important because they may feel more of a need to be in
control before the lesson begins and also help the teacher to think about content,
materials, sequencing, timing and activities.
