Access to Turnitin

When the lab group lists have been mounted on Turnitin, you will have been
added to the appropriate Lab group for this course on Turnitin. There will be no
need for a class ID nor for you to "add" the course once you log in. The course
will appear on your Turnitin "home" page.
Olga Girina will be mounting Turnitin in time for your first lab report submission.
Turnitin recognizes people by their email addresses.
The email address that we use to create CHEM 2020 Turnitin class is the one
given by the York directory or which you gave to Olga during the first lab
session.
If you are already known to Turnitin (through a previous course),
o and we have for you the same email address by which you are currently
known to Turnitin, you are considered a returning student.
o but if we instead have for you a different email address than that which
Turnitin has associated with you before, Turnitin will consider you as
a new student. You will then receive a different invitation email at the
email address that we (and Turnitin) have.
If you are completely new to Turnitin, then you are considered a new student.
New or returning, you will receive an email message from www.turnitin.com. If
not where you expect it, check your other email accounts. If still nothing, email
ogirina@yorku.ca with your name and your student number.
You must register/log in with the email address as your username. This will be
the same email address where you will receive the message from
www.turnitin.com and the same address listed in that email message.
New students will receive a welcome email with a temporary password and
precise instructions on what to do (in which "instructor" means TA). It reads like
this:
Dear I. M. Fictional,
You have been enrolled in the Turnitin class "CHEM 2020 3.0 SU14" by
your instructor, Angelika Schweinitz.
To start using this class, go to http://www.turnitin.com and log in using

and you will also have the chance to change your password and any other
personal information. Keep in mind that the temporary password above is
case-sensitive: we recommend that you paste it directly into your browser.
Thank you for using Turnitin,
The Turnitin Staff
