Electrical Pre-vocational

This is a stand-alone pre-vocational course. Completion of all required units gains a Certificate II in
Electrotechnology (pre-vocational) and will reduce the educational component of an Electrotechnology
apprenticeship.

The training is mainly project based and gives industry relevant hands-on experience in a building site
environment and an introduction to the diverse careers available within the Electrotechnology/Electrical
industry.

What is a pre-vocational course?
A pre-vocational course is identical to a pre-apprenticeship course and prepares you to become an
apprentice or trainee by developing the entry level skills to get a job. Pre-vocational courses apply to the
licensed trades such as Plumbing & Electrical.
Students do not need an employer to do a pre-apprenticeship or pre-vocational course.
Successful completion of a relevant pre-apprenticeship or pre-vocational course will reduce the term of an
apprenticeship or traineeship.
What's more, employers looking to take on an apprentice often look favorably on students who have
already completed a pre-apprenticeship.

for young adults who are under 20 and want to gain a qualification that will lead them to a job or further
study faster

This means you obtain your qualification quicker and open up opportunities to secure the job or
apprenticeship you want, or move straight into further study with VIP priority entry into other Chisholm

Teachers who understand young adults:
TEC teachers are all here for the same reason they are passionate about working with young people
and helping them achieve their goals. They have been selected, not just because of their industry
knowledge and teaching ability, but also because they care and they know how to relate to young adults.
