"UGTANK" --- UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK ANCHORAGE DESIGN

Program Description:
"UGTANK" is a spreadsheet program written in MS-Excel for the purpose of determining the anchorage
reuirement to hold down an underground storage tan!" Specificall# the reuirements for anchor straps$
anchor rods$ and turn%uc!les$ as well as the reinforced concrete spread foundation are determined" Ta%les
for rod and turn%uc!le load capacities as well as strap load capacities are displa#ed to the right off of the main
calculation pages"
This program is a wor!%oo! consisting of two &'( wor!sheets$ descri%ed as follows)

turn%uc!les are ta!en from the ta%le on page 4-+41 of the Manual"
4" The soil is assumed to ha8e no 8oids and is assumed saturated with water &water le8el to top of grade($ while
the tan! is assumed to %e empt#" These conser8ati8e assumptions result in largest possi%le %uo#ant force"
9" This program permits the user to utili5e either steel tension straps or threaded rods with turn%uc!les to
secure the tan! to the foundation" Note) if turn%uc!les are used$ then the# will control the reuired threaded

0" This program assumes that the empt# tan! weight is su%tracted from the %uo#ant force in determining the
tension force in either the straps or anchor rods"
2" The program assumes that the distance %etween the ends of a strap or rod is eual to :* ; 0""
