At the origins of BIOSEP
TM
Pack 3
Twenty years ago, BIOSEP, the rst VWS membrane bioreactor, revolutionized treatment of concentrated
industrial euents. Since that time, this technology, recognized for its eciency and compactness, has been tted
to about hundred water treatment plants throughout the world.
In the mean time, its applications have been extended to other euents, especially municipal, and the solutions
provided were standardized in the form of the BIOSEP Pack. With all the condence given by its success over the
last 10 years, VWS has widened its range and now proposes its optimized version, BIOSEP Pack 3, a concentration
of innovations designed to meet users new requirements using best alternatives.

This technical assistance contract helps for operation and long term performance of
the system. Our technicians come directly on site for :

BIOSEP Pack 3 eliminates carbonated, nitrogenous and phosphorous pollution, retains total suspended solids and
disinfects the euent to make it available for recycling (irrigation, cleaning, ).
To either improve the capacity, enhance treatment performances or equip a new installation, the BIOSEP Pack 3 is an
ideal tool for:
Municipal wastewater treatment plants from800 to 10 000 P.E
Industries wishing to treat their euents while managing their energy and water consumption.
This unit uses four times less space than a classic biological installation and reaches higher performances even for
highly concentrated wastewater.

Operational saving
- Energy reduction: The gravity ltration of permeate
replaces the usual electric pump for MBR
- Water saving: No daily backwash, euent quality
suitable for recycling ad producing process water with
additional reverse osmosis.
Immersed in sludge inside a tank, the
membrane bers separate activated
sludge and treated water by
sucking it from the exterior to
the interior. To avoid sludge
accumulation on the surface,
the bers are scoured with
pressurized air and ltration
is alternating with relaxation
phases. This process limits
energy consumption and
loss of treated water. Only
an automatic chemical
backwash is performed once
a week to optimize membrane
lifespan.

and separates perfectly the
purifying biomass from the
treated euent through
microltration. With a cut-o
level of 0.4 m, the micro-
