This is an 18-month unaccompanied tour located in Manama, Bahrain. The Kingdom of


Bahrain (comprised of a number of islands totaling 253 square miles) occupies a central

The incumbent performs professional clinical casework associated with direct service to
clients and families involving the study, diagnosis and treatment of psychological and
sociological problems (i.e. violence, emotional, acting-out children, drug and alcohol
issues, mental and emotional issues secondary to substance abuse).The incumbent
interviews clients and their families to establish the nature and extent of their problems.
The incumbent provides personalized guidance and support, working constructively with
both positive and negative clients and families from different social backgrounds and
ethnic groups, by communicating confidence in their ability to help themselves. The
incumbent provides specialized treatment services to referrals in the Family Advocacy
Program (FAP), consults with the Family Advocacy Representative (FAR) to establish
detailed treatment plans for presentation to the Case Review Committee (CRC), and
provides counseling as agreed. The incumbent consults with other clinical staff, and acts
as a consultant to other staff and service providers in the community, e.g., the DoDD
School, Child Care Center and Medical Clinic. The incumbent assists in the design,
coordination and implementation of clinical training programs for professionals, para-
professionals and others.

Special Requirements: This is a Key/Emergency-Essential position. In the event of a


crisis situation or war, you must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission
requirements until relieved by proper authority. In addition, this position requires
Anthrax and Smallpox vaccinations. The Anthrax vaccination is a series of 6 shots
occurring at 0, 2 and 4 weeks; then at 6, 12 and 18 months, followed by an annual
booster as long as you remain in the position. Smallpox vaccination is a one-time
inoculation. We strongly recommend that you receive the Smallpox vaccination and
begin the Anthrax series before arriving in Bahrain and provide a shot card or other
medical verification upon arrival. If this is not possible, you will be required to report to
the Branch Health Clinic to receive these mandatory vaccinations within 15 days of
arrival. The Branch Health Clinic will also provide subsequent Anthrax vaccinations (to
complete the series) as well as annual boosters. You may be exempted from Anthrax and
Smallpox requirements if you provide acceptable medical documentation which provides
medical justification for exemption. Please refer to Anthrax and Smallpox links for

Special Benefits: Relocation bonus may be authorized. Instead of a Locality Pay, your
Base Salary will be supplemented by Post Allowance and Post Differential Rate. The
current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S.
receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of Basic Hourly Rate, eight hours per
week). You may request Separate Maintenance Allowance for eligible family members
to help offset the costs associated with maintaining two households. You may also be
eligible for two unaccompanied environmental and morale leaves (space-available travel
on government-owned or operated aircraft to the U.S. or other places in the overseas
theater). NOTE: Some special overseas benefits such as Post Allowance and Separate
Maintenance Allowance are not included in gross income for federal income tax
purposes.

Support Center (FFSC), Naval Support Activity, South West Asia, Bahrain.
