Procesos tcticos, Objetos estratgicos
Durante las ltimas dcadas el suelo ontolgico del pensamiento arquitectnico ha estado protagonizado por la
investigacin de los procesos, gracias a la difusin de las ideas de Whitehead, Deleuze o Latour: herederas de
la metafsica heracliteana del Devenir como antagnico al Ser de Herclito, numerosas lneas de investigacin
proyectual han centrado su inters en la dimensin temporal, relacional y procesual de las dinmicas urbanas,
siguiendo el axioma de la teora del Actor-red que buscaba disolver al objeto como red local de potencias de
interaccin. Desde la autopoiesis paramtrica promulgada por Patrick Schumacher a los experimentos en
activismo social que pueblan el llamado giro participativo pasando por los sofisticados artefactos high-tech
de las vanguardias europeas, la arquitectura parece estar unnimemente obcecada en diluir la coseidad de lo
proyectado, haciendo nfasis en su lugar en una nueva retrica de lo trasversal, lo inestable, lo rizomtico, lo
comodificable, lo reticular o lo efmero, en consonancia con los sistemas crticos generalizados en torno a la
sociedad-red posthistrica.
Sin embargo, la filosofa del ltimo lustro ha articulado una lnea de pensamiento alternativa, que desde el
materialismo especulativo pone en crisis la operatividad de las metafsicas procesuales y busca recuperar, va
Heidegger, la legitimidad y fertilidad de lo objetual como dominio consistente: de esta postura emerger un
archipilago de metodologas que han propiciado lo que se conoce como Ontologa Orientada al Objeto. Entre
los pensadores ms sobresalientes en este nuevo paradigma axiomtico destacamos el trabajo de Grahan
Harman por las sugerentes lneas de fuga que habilita para la arquitectura: su afirmacin de una esencia
inexpugnable y plena para el Objeto reabre el debate sobre la consideracin de la Forma como categora
irreducible a una suma de potencias.
Desde ese punto de partida, el debate ms urgente probablemente sea la reivindicacin de la resiliencia de la
identidad y su capacidad de resistencia en un mundo ahogado en flujos cuyo torrente en ocasionas amenaza
con desbordarnos. Si el objeto, en cuanto fenomnico, es ante todo epifenmeno de la memoria, el debate entre
arquitectura de los procesos y arquitectura de los objetos gana pertinencia como puesta entre parntesis del
dogma de las ltimas dcadas segn el cual la ciudad es ante todo campo de fluctuaciones y mutaciones: la
ontologa orientada al objeto habilita repensar lo urbano desde su obstinacin en seguir siendo como es, en
mantener activa la memoria mediante la continuidad del campo de objetos que la constituyen.

Tactical Processes, strategic Objects
During the last decades the ontological ground of architectural thought has mainly focused on the research
about processes, due to the popularity acquired by the ideas of Whitehead , Deleuze and Latour: heiresses of
Heraclitean metaphysics of Becoming as opposed to Heraclitus` Being , numerous lines of project research has
been interested in the temporal, relational and processual dimensions of urban dynamics , following the axiom
of Actor - Network theory that sought to dissolve the object as a local network of powers of interaction. From
the parametric autopoiesis promulgated by Patrick Schumacher to experiments in social activism that
populate the so-called "participatory turn", architecture seems to be unanimous in diluting the thingness of the
projected, making emphasis rather in a new rhetoric of the transversal , the unstable, the rhizomatic , the
commodifiable , the reticular or the ephemeral , in accordance with the widespread of main critical systems
around the post-historical "network society ".
However, the philosophy of the last five years has articulated an alternative line of thought , arising from
speculative materialism, that puts a strain on the operative powers of processual metaphysics, and seeks to
recover, via Heidegger, the legitimacy and fertility of the objectual as a consistent and self-sufficient domain: in
this stance an archipelago of methodologies have led to what is now known as Object Oriented Ontology .
Among the most prominent thinkers in this new axiomatic paradigm highlights the work of Graham Harman,
by means of the suggestive lines of flight that enables for architecture : his claim of an impregnable and full
essence for Object reopens the debate on the consideration of the Form as a category irreducible to a sum of
interaction potentials .
From that starting point, the most urgent debate is probably the resilience of identity and its power to resist in
a world whose stream flows threatens to overwhelm us. If the Object , as a phenomenological entity, is
primarily an epiphenomenon of the memory, the debate between process-oriented architecture and object-
oriented architecture can help us to put into crisis the dogma of the past few decades , according to which the
city is primarily a field fluctuations and mutations : object-oriented ontology enables us to rethink urban space
from his obstinacy in remaining as it is, to keep the memory active by the continuity of the field of objects that
populate it .
