Material

A three ring piston sealing set for double acting

pistons of split construction with central support
bush or bearing band. The sets are available in the
diameter range 20-300mm. Additional intermediate
sealing rings can be supplied if required.

Applications
Medium-heavy duty double acting pistons for
hydraulic cylinder applications in steel making,
heavy duty presses (aluminium, copper etc.) and
where shock loads and high radial loads are
encountered.

Materials/Application Limits
Veepack piston rod seals are manufactured from
fabric reinforced elastomer. The choice of the
elastomer is dependent upon the application and the
hydraulic media to be sealed.

Fitting Instructions
Veepack piston rod seals-type 0003 cannot be
stretched over shoulders on piston heads and thus
can only be fitted to pistons of split two piece
construction. The piston head should have adequate
guidance with either a metallic support bush or hard
fabric bush e.g. type KG. Axial compression is
neither necessary or desirable with this type of seal,
as a small lubricating layer of hydraulic media
passing over the sealing lips will enhance the life of
both seal and support bush.

Lead in Chamfers
The lead-in chamfer is dependant upon the radial
cross section of the seal e.g. See table opposite.
