Meaning: We worship The Three-Eyed Lord Shiva who is naturally fragrant, immensely merciful and who is the Protector of the
devotees. Worshipping him may we be liberated from death for the sake of immortality just as the ripe cucumber easily separates
itself from the binding stalk i.e. By your Grace, Let me be in the state of salvation (Moksha) and be saved from the clutches of
fearful death and calamities. Remembering Lord Ganesha and then Brahmrishi Vasishta who has given us this mahamantra,
before beginning the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra will give us ENHANCED RESUTS. (Refer to the audio)
Effects When chanted with full sincerity, faith and devotion, to a worshipper from any faith, this removes dangers of accidents,
incurable diseases and calamities, bestows long Life and immortality. It has a great curative effect. Diseases pronounced
incurable by doctors are cured by this Mantra. It bestows health, wealth, peace, prosperity, satisfaction and long life. It is a
Moksha-Mantra too.
Explanation :The mantra is a prayer of devotee to Lord Shiva. Trayambaka is the three eyed one (where the third eye signifies
the giver of knowledge, which destroys ignorance and releases us from the cycle of death and rebirth). Lord Shiva, when
worshipped Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, bestows the boon of sound health, longlife, prosperity, wealth, contentment and Peace.
For the worshipper of this mantra, whichever faith he may belong to, the positive vibrations of the mantra percolates to each
and every cell in the body thus forming a protective shield protecting the worshiper from life calamities, accidents, mishaps,
daily calamities etc. Also called as Moksha mantra, the energy or heat created by chanting this, makes one fearless and takes one
beyond the cycle of birth and death. This mantra takes you to your state of absolute truth, pure consciousness and bliss i.e. the
state of Sachidananda[ sat- chit- anand] and links you to the most merciful Lord Shiva.
Word Meanings:
AUM: Absolute reality.
Tryambakam: Trya means three. Ambakam means eyes. Three eyed Lord Shiva.
Yajamahe: We rejoice in meditation on all of this, sing in His praise
Sugandhim: Means fragrance.
Pushtivardhanam: Means that which nourishes all.
