DESCRIPTION
The new AnaLASER

Intelligent Interface Module (IIM-2000)

is the communication link, networking up to 30 AnaLASER
detector zones to a FenwalNET 2000 control panel. A com-
puter running LaserNET 2.0 software can communicate
with the IIM, either with a local PC or a remote PC connected
by modem. This allows the AnaLASER detectors to be com-
pletely configured and monitored from a central location. With
connection of a optional telephone line, it allows interroga-
tion of the system with a remote PC, or the IIM can be pro-
grammed to dial out to a remote PC on the occurrence of
any AnaLASER alarm or trouble condition. The FN-2000 text
menu can also be accessed through an optional window within
the LaserNET software. The IIM allows the AnaLASER and
FenwalNET products to be networked together to create an
Intelligent High-Senstivity-Smoke-Detection & Fire Alarm
Control System.
RS-485 NETWORK
The RS-485 network connects up to 30 Display Control Cards
(DCCs) with AnaLASER detectors, to the IIM. Each DCC is
assigned an address on the RS-485 loop, set via a dip switch
located on the DCC. The RS-485 network can be wired for
either Style 4(Class B) or Style 6(Class A) with a maximum
loop length of 4,000 feet. Removable terminal blocks on the
IIM will accept from #12 to 18 AWG twisted shielded pair
wiring (2.5mm
2
to .75mm
2
).
The DCC communicates on the network through its RS-232
port. The RS-485 network terminates on the RS 232/485
Converter Card, P/N 89-100062-00X, located at the DCC. A
cable, p/n 06-129095-004, is needed to connect the DCC to
the converter.
Alarm and trouble conditions, detector configuration, real time
smoke and airflow levels, and smoke history are transmitted
from each DCC over the RS-485 network to the IIM.
All network data can be monitored or controlled from a cen-
tral location using LaserNET software on a local or remote
PC.
ALARM AND TROUBLE REPORTING TO
THE FN-2000
The IIM and FN-2000 panel communicate through a fully
supervised, bi-directional RS-232 data loop that provides a
link allowing the three alarm levels and multiple trouble con-
ditions to be transmitted from the AnaLASER DCCs and dis-
played on the CCM. Alarm Levels 1&2 are displayed as Pre-
Alarm conditions, while a Level 3 Alarm is displayed as a
Alarm condition. When an alarm or trouble condition is
received, the FN-2000 panel will the activate pre-programmed
outputs associated with the alarm or trouble inputs. Refer to
the FenwalNET Configuration Software Manual (FCS), P/N
74-225, for further information.
MONITORING AND CONTROL VIA MODEM
The IIM contains a built-in FCC approved modem for remote
monitoring and control, using an optional telephone line. This
feature provides a technician with the ability to dial into the
IIM from a remote PC, to view real time smoke and airflow
levels, check detector configuration, and download history

from each DCC. The IIM can be programmed to automati-
cally dial a remote PC using up to three preset telephone num-
bers, on the occurrence of any AnaLASER alarm or trouble
condition, or an FN-2000 common alarm or trouble. If a suc-
cessful connection is not established at the first number called,
a second and third alternate telephone number will be used, if
programmed.
The FN-2000 text menu can be accessed through a optional
window within the LaserNET software or through any remote
PC running a terminal emulation program. This provide a tech-
nician the ability to navigate through the FN-2000 menus to
view current alarm and trouble conditions, interrogate history,
or check current panel configuration.
