CHRISTIAN MARCLAY
THE CLOCK

Winner of the Golden Lion award at the 2011
Venice Biennale, The Clock by Christian
Marclay samples thousands of excerpts from
the history of film that indicate the passage of
timefrom clock towers to wristwatches to
buzzing alarm clocksthat the artist has
edited together to unfold on the screen in real
time as a 24-hour montage. At the Walker Art
Center, the work is screened in the Burnet
Gallery, a space designed by the artist
specifically for viewing the piece.
Coordinating curators are Siri Engberg and
Sheryl Mousley.

OLAF BREUNING
PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION

Public Art Fund presents a playful new
commission by Olaf Breuning entitled
Clouds installed at the southeast entrance to
Central Park. The artists largest public art
installation in the United States to date, the
work features six clouds rendered as childlike
drawings made of polished blue aluminum
towering nearly 35 feet above the plaza and
mounted on seemingly makeshift steel
supports.

THE ST. PETERSBURG PARADOX
EXHIBITION

Based on the theory of the same name
developed by 18

century Swiss
mathematicians, brothers Nicolaus and
Daniel Bernoulli, The St. Petersburg
Paradox invites artists to consider notions of
risk aversion, expected value, and gaming.

The Swiss Touch in Landscape
Architecture provides an insight into the
extreme richness and variety of Swiss
landscape architecture and presents the
relevant works of renowned Swiss architects
such as Bernard Tschumi, Herzog & de
Meuron and that of engineer Jrg Conzett.
The exhibition was produced by Pro Helvetia,
curated by Michael Jakob, and made
possible by Presence Switzerland.

DER RING GOTT FARBLONJET
STAGED READING

Swiss actress Graldine Dulex plays the
role of Brunnhilda in a one night reading of
Charles Ludlam's Der Ring Gott Farblonjet,
an adaptation of Wagner's Ring Cycle with
the legendary Ridiculous Theatrical
Company. The staged reading is part of the
Pride Weekend Festivities. All proceeds will
benefit a LGBTQ youth organization.

Multiple Exposures: Jewelry and
Photography is the first museum exhibition to
explore how contemporary jewelry artists
transform and add new meaning to the
pervasive images of this digital age. The
exhibition features works by more than 80
renowned artists from over 20 countries,
including Swiss artists: Esther Brinkmann,
Otto Kunzli, Bernhard Schobinger, and
Fabrice Schaefer.

BLOCH NORTH DAKOTA
INTERACTIVE GLOBAL ART PROJECT

BLOCH is an interactive global art project by
Com&Com which connects artists and folk
traditions to facilitate a worldwide
conversation. The core of this unique project
is a large tree trunk called Bloch which
originates from an ancient Swiss tradition
from the Appenzell region. Bloch travels to
every continent where local artists contribute
to Bloch and add their mark or story to the
tree trunk.
