Eleven will travel today for a week of mission work in Grundy Virginia. Please pray daily for: Brad & Kim Seevers, The Hendricks family, Bob Neff, Nancy Speakman, Lori Highfield and Nancye Rose.
We will return to Lancaster on Thursday, July 3 rd . Please pray that God grants us safety, great weather, a Christian love for one another, and that all work can be completed for His glory that we set out to accomplish in His name.
THOUGHTS FROM BRAD In the last two weeks, we have had three baptisms at Fifth Avenue. Most recent was last Sunday night when Mike Weaver accepted Christ and was baptized for the forgiveness of sins on Sunday evening. Congratulations Mike! I want all these men to know that we want to continue to assist your growth in Christ. Men stay faithful in your worship and study His Word diligently.
I will pray for you that God will use you to make a difference with your life. The difference you will make with your life will be contingent on the difference God makes in you. Lets cut to the issue. Gentlemen, with Jesus, you will win! Without Jesus, you will lose. Jesus once said, I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing. (Jn. 15:5). On the other hand men, remember Pauls words: I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (Ph. 4:13).
Just as God has done great things in others, allow Him to continue to do great things through you. Please pray daily for Bob, Drew and Mike as they walk with the Lord each day.
I want to say thank you for all those who volunteered during Vacation Bible School. A Big THANK YOU is owed to Jean Azbell & Tracy Hinson for organizing the week. It takes much patience and time to oversee a project like this. May those who attended and served walk away a changed vessel and may they continue to live out their faith each day for the Lord.
One final note: Please pray daily for the eleven from FACC who are traveling to Grundy Mountain Mission today for a week of service.
Allow me to leave you with this thought: Even if Hell is breaking loose in your life, remember that spiritual champions fight to win-not in their own strength, but in the power of the Spirit of God. Spiritual champions have a vision to win. Now lets go win!
In His Service,
Brad Seevers
BITS FROM BRO. DAVE
PERSONAL NOTE: As your Associate Minister and as an Elder, I want to thank Jean Azbell, Tracy Hinson, and every single one of you who helped with Vacation Bible School. (Not enough room to list all the names and, besides, I am sure I would miss someone!) Bless your willing hearts!
KEENAGERS TRIP: We had a final count of 18 (9 cancellations) making the trip to visit the Zane Grey Museum, The John Glenn Home and the Hopalong Cassidy Museum. We had a good and safe trip.
SUNDAY EVENING: This week (6/29) I will be filling in for Brad. My topic and text will be: Dont Lose Heart (II Corinthians 4:1-18).
MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: These sessions are being suspended, as is our custom, during the months of July and August. Watch this space for announcements regarding future studies.
KEEENAGERS UPCOMING: On Wednesday, July 30, we will be visiting Zoar Village, near New Philadelphia, Ohio. Watch for complete information!
-Mark your calendars for the New Horizon retreat, in Zanesville. The date is September 9.
FINAL THOUGHT: You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could, and should, do for themselves.

Cathy Gohlke couldn't write an inferior novel if she tried. All her releases so far have been bright with excellence, compelling stories, and unforgettable characters. Saving Amelie confirms Cathy's superior writing ability, as well as her understanding of history and compassion for its people. Set during World War II in Nazi Germany, the story will draw you in from the first page and not let you go until the end. One reviewer wrote of the "heart" and "faith" woven into the story, as well as the bravery and obedience to God's Word, even in impossible circumstances. The "facts" and research of the story are all too true, and if you've read any of the author's other novels you know you can expect a great read about a difficult, even horrifying, subject from this, her most recent effort. Cathy Gohlke writes from the heart ... a caring heart ... and from a wealth of research and insight as well. A major achievement from a major author.

Loring and Carol Beerbower, past members of Fifth Avenue, are celebrating their 60 th
anniversary on Saturday, July 12 th , 2-5pm, at the First Church of Christ, 118 N. Main St., Hicksville, OH. Their family requests no gifts, but cards and memories are welcome. If unable to attend, you may send the card (by July 8 th ) to Sharon Beerbower, 3425 W. Landis Rd., Angola, IN 46703. Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace- based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical Balance Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)
Global Evangelism We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon- Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.
Discipleship We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social Conscience We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
OUR PURPOSE
WE EXIST TO
Exalt Gods Greatness; Evangelize Gods Work Equip Gods People Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ
OUR MISSION To Love God and Love People! How Can I Respond Today? At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.
Miriam and Her Brother Moses by Jean Marzollo is a Mommy and Me book that illustrates the remarkable story of love and courage, showing how Miriam was a hero even though she was quite small herself. The Bridge of Peace by Cindy Woodsmall is in our adult library. This book tells the story of Lena Kauffman, a young Old Order Amish schoolteacher who has dealt all her life with attention raised by a noticeable birthmark on her cheek. Having learned to move past the stares and whispers, Lena channels her zest for living into her love of teaching. But tensions mount as she is challenged to work with a rebellious young man and deal with several crises at the schoolhouse that threaten her other students. Her lack of submission and use of ideas that dont line up with the Old Ways, strengthen the school boards case as they begin to believe that Lena is behind all the trouble.
One member of the school board, Grey Graber, feels trapped by his own stifling circumstances. His wife, Elsie, has shut him out of her life, and he doesnt know how long he can continue to live as if nothing is wrong. As the two finally come to a place of working toward a better marriage, tragedy befalls their family.
Lena and Grey have been life-long friends, but their relationship begins to crumble amidst unsettling deceptions, propelling each of them to finally face their own secrets. Can they both find a way past their losses and discover the strength to build a new bridge?
