Take all recommended precautions and observe regulations for use and maintenance in conditions of safety
UNDERSTANDING WARNING NOTICES
Some terms are used in this manual to point out various levels of danger, such as:
- DANGER
- ATTENTION
- WARNING
The above words are always accompanied by the potential hazard warning symbol.
ATTENTION - WARNING- DANGER: indicate a situation of imminent danger which, if not averted, may cause damage.
IMPORTANT: indicates a situation of imminent danger which, if not averted, may cause damage to the vehicle.

B/3
ECOLOGY
IMPORTANT ECOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
A few helpful recommendations are listed here below.
Fi nd out about current l egi sl ati on i n force i n your
country.
Ask all suppliers of lubricating oils, fuels, antifreeze
products, detergents, etc. for information on the effects of
these products on people and on the environment and
concerning the regulations to be observed when using,
stocking and disposing of them.
A FEW SUGGESTIONS
1. Do not refill the tanks using unsuitable jerrycans or
pressurised combustible fuelling systems as they may
cause leaks and loss of significant amounts of liquid.
2. In general, make sure your skin does not come into
contact wi th combusti bl e l i qui ds, l ubri cati ng oi l s,
acids, solvents, etc. The majority of these types of
products contain substances which are particularly
harmful to our health.
3. Modern lubricating oils contain additives. Do not burn
contaminated combustible oils and/or oils used for
conventional heating systems.
4. Take care not to spi l l used engi ne cool i ng fl ui ds,
engine and transmission lubricating oils, hydraulic oil,
brake oil etc. while pouring or draining them. Keep in
a safe place until they are disposed of in compliance
with legal standards or according to local provisions.
5. Modern antifreeze liquids and their solutions, such as,
for example, antifreeze and other additives, should be
replaced every two years. Make sure such liquids do
not soak into the soil, they should be collected and
disposed of in the appropriate fashion.
6. Do not intervene directly on the air conditioning systems
( optional ), by opening them. These systems contain
gas which should not be released into the atmosphere.
Contact your dealer or an expert who has the necessary
special equipment at their disposal and who would, in
any case, have to refill the system.
7. Immediately repair any leak or fault in the cooling or
engine hydraulic systems.
8. Do not i ncrease the pressure i n a pressuri sed
system, this may cause the components to explode.
OBLIGATIONS
Wast e mat eri al shoul d not be scat t ered i n t he
environment but should be disposed of in the appropriate
fashion. Used lubricants, batteries, rags dirty with grease,
brake pads etc. should be handed over to specialised
companies authorised to dispose of polluting waste.

B/8
Safety Rules
Mod. DUMPER 4200
(fig.6/B)
(fig.7/B)
(fig.8/B)
USING HANDLES AND STEPS
Falling is one of the major causes of personal injury.
Always face the vehicle when getting in or out, keeping
a tight hold of the vehicle on the steps and handles.
Never use the controls as handles.
Never jump down from the vehicle. Never get on or off
a moving vehicle.
Always keep footboards, steps and handles clean and
make sure they are not slippery.
ADJUSTING THE DRIVER'S SEAT
A badl y adj usted seat can cause the dri ver to ti re
quickly and may thus lead to operations being carried
out incorrectly.
The seat should be adjusted according to the height
and weight of the driver.
The driver should be able to press the pedals right
down and to operate correctly all control levers while
keeping his/her back leaning well up against the back
of the seat.
If this is not so, move the seat forward or backward,
and check once again.
USING THE SEAT-BELT
The vehicle is equipped with a cab able to support the
weight of the vehicle itself should it tip over (ROPS), it
is, therefore, essential that the driver remains firmly
fastened in the seat thanks to the seat-belt to prevent
him/her from falling out and possibly getting crushed.
Before starting up the vehicle, carefully check the belt,
the buckle and that it is properly fixed to the structure. If
there should be any sign of damage or wear and tear,
repl ace the seat-bel t or the necessary part before
using the vehicle.
Al ways remai n seated wi th the seat-bel t correctl y

SAFETY REGULATIONS DURING MAINTENANCE
- ATTENTION: When changing the oil, certain basic
rules for personal hygiene should be respected.
Before changing the oil, apply a suitable protective hand
cream. Wear protective clothing, overalls, gloves in PVC,
etc. Once the oi l has been changed, wash away any
contact with the dirty oil. Any clothing dirtied by the oil
should be removed and washed. Prolonged contact with
oil, can be harmful to your health, for this reason it is
important that the instructions given above are followed.
Vehicle maintenance
Keep hands, tools and clothing well away from all moving
parts. Do not touch the pipe and exhaust manifold which
could be hot and could cause burns.
Do not allow anyone who is not expert to get too close to
the vehicle.
Do not work underneath the vehicle with a jack as your
onl y means of support. Pl ace some tri pods under the
vehicle as a safety measure.
MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENTS
Preliminary service inspection
Once your new DIECI VEHICLE has completed 50 hours
work, the instructions given in the chapter GUARANTEE
should be carefully followed.
Hour Counter
(fig.1/D Pos.1)
The engi ne hour counter shows how many hours the
vehicle has worked. The first figure on the right, a black fi-
gure on a white background, indicates tenths of an hour.
The other figures are white on a black background. Use
the counter to ensure maintenance is carried out at the
correct intervals.
Routine maintenance
This chapter provides complete details on the correct proce-
dure to be followed in order to maintain the vehicle in perfect
working order. This chapter also gives information as to
how to carry out the various adjustments necessary to keep
the vehicle tuned. The vehicle must receive regular routine
maintenance in order to give the best results.
It is recommended that all services are carried out as
prescribed in the service schedule recommended by DIECI.
Remember that it is the responsibility of the owner and/or
user to keep the machine in safe working conditions and fit
for driving on the road.
Maintenance should be carried out at the intervals indicated
in the table "pag.D3" using only high quality lubricants.
Maintenance is best carried out indoors and at the end of
a working day so that all oils are hot and can be easily
drained off.
Before starting any maintenance work whatsoever, switch
off the engine, remove the key from the ignition, position
wedges under the wheels and appropriate locks on the
hydraulic cylinders.
Before using a greasing gun, clean the pipes.
Before removing the draining and fuelling caps, clean the
surrounding area.
Always use a clean container to collect used oil and fuel.
Protecting the environment
It is illegal to pollute sewers, culverts or the soil. Use only
authori sed col l ecti on centres, i ncl udi ng the areas
desi gnated by the l ocal authori ti es or workshops
equi pped wi th the necessary tool s for the di sposal of
used oi l s. If i n doubt, contact your l ocal authori ty for
relevant instructions.

rules should be complied with:
Never add different types of fuel, such as petrol, alcohol,
to the diesel.
. It is forbidden to refuel with the engine switched on.
Clean the area around the fuel cap. Refill the fuel tank at the
end of every day to reduce condensation during the halt.
Never leave the fuel cap off.
Keep the fuel pump gun under control, while filling the tank.
. DO NOT SMOKE WHILE CARRYING OUT THE JOBS
MENTIONED ABOVE.
Do not fill the tank right up. Leave room for the fuel to
expand and immediately clean any spillage.
If you should lose the original cap, replace it with an
original spare. Not any cap will fit.
Fuel tank opening
(fig.16/D Pos.1)
Turn the cap anticlockwise to remove it.
Specifications for recommended fuel
To ensure good performance, use a high quality fuel.
The specifications of the recommended fuel are given
here below.
Cetane number 45 minimum.
Viscosity 2/4,5 centistokes at 40C.
Density 0,8201860 kg/litre at 15C
Sulphur 0,20% in weight, maximum.
Distillation 85% at 350C.
Cetane number
The cetane number: measures the ignition properties.
Fuel with a lower cetane number might make it difficult to
start up the engine cold and could effect combustion.
Viscosity
Viscosity is the resistance to flow; if the degree of viscosity is
beyond the limit, it might effect the engine performance.
Density
A lower density reduces the engine power, higher density
increases the engine power and the smokiness of the
exhaust fumes.
Sulphur
A high sulphur level wears out the engine and creates
pollution.
Distillation
Distillation indicates the mixture of different hydrocarbons
in the fuel. A high proportion of light hydrocarbons might
effect the type of combustion.

CLEANING AND STORING DIESEL FUEL
It is essential that the fuel is kept clean. The advice given
here bel ow wi l l hel p to prevent al terati ons to the fuel
specifications.
1. Never use zinc containers.
2. Never use cloths which might leave deposits, to clean
the i nsi de of the contai ners or components of the
fuelling system.
3. The capaci ty of the ci stern must ensure that the
intervals between one refuelling and the next are not
too long. A capacity of 3000 litres is sufficient for an
average sized company.
4. The storage cistern (fig.17/D) should be covered and
pl aced on supports whi ch are suffi ci entl y hi gh to
exploit the force of gravity when refuelling the vehicle.
A bathtub for the fuel collecting has to be positioned
below the storage cistern. It should also be equipped
wi th an openi ng bi g enough to al l ow someone to
access the cistern for cleaning.
5. The delivery tap must be bigger at the bottom in order to
hold back any deposits; it should also be equipped with
a removable filter. The cistern should be tilted 40 mm per
metre towards the plug to drain off the deposits.
6. Fuel barrels (fig.18/D) must be stored under cover to
prevent water from seeping in. The barrels should
also be tilted slightly, so that any water will run to the
upper rim. The fuel barrels should not be stored for
too long before being used.
7. If the barrels are kept in the open, the cap must be
tightly closed to prevent water from seeping in.
8. After refilling the cistern or the barrels, it is advisable to
leave the fuel to stand for at least two hours so that any
water or impurities can deposit before the fuel is used.
