Part IV. Lunch Break (11:30 1:00 PM)

1. The group will write their answers on the black portion of the
illustration board.
2. All groups will answer the same set of questions in writing.
3. There will be three (3) components in the competition namely: Elimination
Round, Semi-Final Round and the Final Round.
4. The elimination round has ten (15) questions worth 2 points, the semi-final
round has nine (9) questions worth 3 points and in the final round has seven
(7) questions worth 5 points.
5. In the elimination round, only the top ten (10) team members will qualify to
the next (semi-final) round.
6. At the end of semi-final round, only the top five (5) team members will move
to the final round.
7. After the final round, whoever gets the top three (3) highest numbers of
points is automatically declared the champion or the runner-up as the case
may be.
8. The questions will be read by the quizmaster twice.
9. After the second (2nd) reading, the Quizmaster shall say go, only then the
groups be allowed to write their answers. Automatically, the (10) second time-
limit will begin with the word go by the Quizmaster.
10. After the time-limit, the groups must stop writing and their papers shall be
collected
11. The Quizmaster shall read and verify the groups answer.
12. Any dispute on a question must be channeled by the adviser to the judges for
resolution before proceeding to the next question.
13. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
TALENT EXPLOSION
f. Each section must present a talent. It could be an individual or
group performance.
g. Each presentation must not be less than 4 minutes but not
more than 10 minutes.
h. Each participant must be a bonafide student of the College of
Information Technology.
i. The section who will not present any talent will be fined Php
500.
j. Criteria for judging:
a. Originality & Uniqueness of Talent - 20%

Masters of Ceremony:

1. Pause Abuse: From the point after hero selection process is
completed, pausing without any valid reason is disallowed.

2. Fatal Error / Game Crash (all / multiple competitors). Any game crash
before the 60 minute mark will be reloaded. Any game crash after
the 60 minute mark will not continue and a decision will be made by
the Admin based on the destroyed towers.
3. In case of black out during play time, the game will be reloaded after.
4. Definition of Bugs. Warning: After a warning was given the game goes
on. If there warnings are accumulated by the team during the match
the team will be disqualified from the tournament.
5. Game Loss: Game loss given to a team means that the team will
automatically lose the game irrelevantly of the actual match result if
such took place.
6. Disqualifications: A team disqualification will lead to the team being
ejected from the tournament. They will not be allowed to take part in
the current event.

QUIZ BOWL
14. Each club (MS Office Club, Programming, Hardware Servicing and
Troubleshooting) is allowed to send only one team comprising of
five bona fide students of the College of IT. The team should have
a coach/adviser.
15. The team members must wear the PSITS uniform and their school
ID during the contest.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

PROGRAMMING
1. The programming languages of the competition include C, Visual Basic, Visual
Basic.Net and PHP.
2. The duration of the competition will be 1.5 hours. Each team will be given 5
8 programming problems.
3. The competition would include a number of challenging problems each of
which would require you to develop some algorithm and get the output in a
fixed format on the console. The scoring would hence be Yes/No i.e. either
correct or incorrect.
4. The decision of the Judges will be final.
5. If there is a tie on the number of problems solved, the scoring will depend on
the time taken since the start of competition to the time of correct
submission and the number of wrong submissions.
6. Concepts to be used. Control Structures (Selection and Looping Structures),
Array, Data Structure and I.O. Retrieving.
7. Each team should consist of 2-3 participants of undergraduate level and
must be a bonafide student of this institution.
8. The judges have the right to check the laptop or the pc that the participants
will use.
9. Use of mobile phones and other communication devices is strictly prohibited
during the competition.
10. Participation in 1 hour practice session is mandatory.
11. Practice sessions results will not affect the final results however it is needed
to check your platform for the competition.
12. All technical queries of the participants will be entertained during the
practice session which will be held before the main competition or before
the start of main competition.
13. The In-charge of the competition has the right to disqualify the participants
in the event of cheating or has a readymade (template) code.
14. No programming related book or storage device will be allowed inside the
venue of the competition.

COMPUTER GAME
7. Competition format: 5 vs 5 Players
8. Match winner: The team who destroys the opponents Throne/World

10. Substitutions. One substitution player is allowed for each team. The
substitute player is not allowed to play for other teams before/after in
the course of the tournament.
11. Coin Toss. Winner: Selects Sentinel / Scourge OR First / Second Hero Ban

allowed to change seats once the DOTA map has started to load

15. Once the competition starts, any discussion between two
different teams may result in immediate disqualification from
the competition.
16. Point System of the Contest.
o For every correct answer 25 points will be given. Zero Points for
every Incorrect output or answer.
o Nio = number of incorrect output or rejected program
o Nmd= number of minutes delayed
o 15 Points * (Nio+ Nmd) will be the deduction for the delayed in
submission. (after the allotted time(4 Hours)).
o 15 Points Penalty will be given for those contestant that will
consult outside the laboratory room and to any participants.
16. The teams are ranked according to the number of problems solved
and given points. If two or more teams have solved equal number of
problems than the one with the minimum penalty will be ranked higher.
Or it will be given another set of machine problem to be solved within
30minute.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Coverage
Specifically, the said competition is based on the following objectives:
o Open the case
o Install the power supply
o Attach the components to the motherboard
o Install internal drives
o Connect all internal cables
o Re-attach the side panels and connect external cables to the
computer
o Boot the computer for the first time
o Install an operating system
Mechanics
The following are the guidelines for the Computer Troubleshooting
Competition:
Before Competition
1. Each club will send one team which composed of 2 members.

1. The digital art must be relevant to the theme which will be provided during
the contest.
2. All entries must be done during the allotted time.
3. The in-charge of the competition has the right to disqualify the participants
in the event of cheating or has ready-made (template) photos.
4. Once the competition starts, any discussion between two different teams
may result in immediate disqualification from the competition.
5. The output must NOT bear any watermark or signature of the name of the
artist or the club he/she represents.
6. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
7. Announcement of winners will be done during the culmination program of
the IT Week celebration.
8. Criteria for judging:
a. Substance and Originality - 50%
b. Relevance to the Theme - 30%
c. Visual Impact - 20%

TOUCH TYPING
1. Each class shall be represented only with five (5) bona fide students of the
College of IT.
2. Each contestant must wear his/her school ID and club uniform during the
contest.
3. Typing without using the sense of sight to find the keys.
4. There will be three (3) components in the competition namely: Qualifying
Stage, Semi-Final Stage and the Final.
5. In order to pass the Qualifying Stage each contestant will be given a
manuscript that needs to be finished in (1) minute as fast as you can and try
to get our attention if you are finish by raising both hands. If you are finish
before the time runs out you are qualified but considering your gross
(uncorrected) words per minute and if you fail to finish it on the time limit
you will be eliminated. Qualified contestants will proceed to the next Stage
(Semi-Final) where each will complete the typing test in (2) minutes,























































2. Participants must be a bonafide students in JHCSC-Dumingag Campus and
must be a registered member in any of the four(4) clubs.
3. Each participating team must bring their own tools and equipment, such as
screw drivers, CD Installers (Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8), to
be used in the competition.
4. Faculty members / Coaches will meet and discuss the rules and guidelines
at exactly 8:00 A.M. during the day of competition.
5. Competition will start at exactly 8:30 in the morning.
6. Time allotted for the said competition is good only for 1.5 hr.

During Competition
1. The participants must be in the venue 30 minutes before the competition
proper.
2. During troubleshooting, the participating team will be judged according to
the accuracy and speed in troubleshooting the given actual problems. The
team will be rank according to the concrete and detailed troubleshooting
procedure with least amount of time spent in troubleshooting the problems.
Judging:
1. Judges (Faculty and Staff of I.T Department)
2. Criteria: (The winner is the team who complete first the installation of the
different parts of the computer including the installation of an OS.)
3. Winners will be announced during the CULMINATION DAY.

MOVIE MAKING
Competition Proper
1. Each club should have at least one (1) entry.
2. Participants must be a bonafide student in JHCSC-Dumingag Campus and
must be a registered member in any of the four (4) clubs.

3. The length of the movie should be strictly observed: Minimum of
3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes.
4. Video submission is on March 6, 2014 at exactly 5:00P.M.
5. All entries should be in the following format. (.avi, .mpeg)
6. Photos or footage of any politician in any part of the video is not
allowed.
7. The audience for this video is the people of JHCSC. No abusive,
obscene or vulgar language or scene is allowed in any video.
Judging:
1. Judges (Faculty and Staff of I.T Department)
2. Judging Criteria
All videos will be judged on the following criteria:

Content (30%)
Is the message engaging and appropriate to the theme of the
contest?
Creativity(30%)
Is the idea shared innovative and creative? Is it original?
Execution(30%)
Is the use of technology effective and used appropriately to get
the message across to the audience?
Overall Effect: (10%)
Was the overall effect achieved in communicating to the
audience?
3. Winners will be announced during the CULMINATION DAY.
DIGITAL ART CONTEST
Digital Art is general term for a range of artistic works and
practices that use digital technology as an essential part of the creative
and/or presentation process. Since the 1970s, various names have been
used to describe the process including computer art and multimedia art,
and digital art is itself placed under the larger umbrella term new media
art.
9. The contestant must register his/her name on the day of the
contest to the organizers.
10. Contestants will use only the available computers at the laboratory
11. Contestants are not allowed to use the internet while working.
12. Maximum of two (2) contestants per club is allowed.
13. Each contestant must submit one digital art only.
