THEREPUBLIC OF KENYA DURING THE COMMISSIONING OF THE
BEYOND ZERO MOBILE CLINIC AT STATEHOUSE NAIROBI, 4TH
JULY 2014
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today is indeed a great day for us as it marks another milestone in the
achievement of what we are doing to improve the health of Kenyan
mothers and their children.
When we started the Beyond Zero Campaign, I made a promise to raise
funds to provide mobile clinics, to improve access to health care for
mothers and children.
I know it has been a long wait, not just for me, but also the Kenyans who
have been wondering what happened to that promise.
Through the Beyond Zero" campaign each county will receive a mobile
clinic that will contribute to improving access to health care of mothers and
children.
We will prioritize counties, based on HIV, maternal and child health
indicators, and eventually, all counties will be supported.
I would now like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors, donors
and well-wishers for this cause.
In particular I would like to thank General Motors for providing a prototype
of this mobile clinic. I would also like to thank the technical team, led by
Ministry of Health that has worked so hard to support this initiative.
I urge other like-minded partners to come on board, because there still
remains a lot to be done.
Its now my pleasure to launch the first fully kitted "Beyond Zero" mobile
clinic the first of which will go to Taita Taveta County.
