ELEMENT BABY BOOK

In this project you will adopt an element from the periodic table. The symbol you drew last day
is your new baby element. As a proud parent of your new element you are going to create a
baby book to keep track of the wonderful stages it has gone through. You may create this book
as either a paper or electronic document.

Cover page Name of element & your name

Critical information
This should be written in a creative paragraph, not just a list of facts.

Name of element (Give your element a first name)
Nickname of element (Symbol)
Birth date (date element was discovered)
Birth weight (atomic mass)
Birth height (atomic number)
Race (type of element)
Attending physician (Discoverer)
Gender (state of matter at room temperature)
Place of birth (country of discovery)
Personality (emotions: boiling point and melting point)

Birth Certificate
Create a birth certificate that includes parents and doctors signatures

Family Information
Family Name (Periodic table group number)
Address (period + discoverers last name + drive, lane, circle, court, road, or way)
Brothers and Sisters (Other elements in the group)

DNA Structure
Bohr model of the element (looking at the DNA of your baby)

Career Page
In a paragraph, describe what your element grew up to be. To do this you need to find
out the common uses of your element. For example, tungsten is the metal used in light
bulbs. Since you need electricity for light bulbs to work, a logical career for tungsten
would be an electrician. Be creative and explain how your element does its job. Also
include a picture of the career choice your child has made.

Career Comparison

As with any jobs, some pay more than others. Research the market value of your
element, and compare it with the cost of two other elements. Highlight your element
and include it in your career page as the hourly wage that your child makes.
