Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to Auto Theft Prevention

LANSING, Mich. Gov. Rick Snyder today announced one appointment and five reappointments to
the Michigan Automobile Theft Prevention Authority board of directors.
Housed in the Michigan State Police, the seven-member board consists of law enforcement officials,
automobile insurers and consumers of automobile insurance. In partnership with law enforcement
agencies, prosecutors offices and nonprofit community organizations, the board works to reduce
auto thefts in the state.
These are experienced and talented appointees and I am confident they will continue the fine work
of this board, Snyder said.
Appointed:
Bill Jamnik, of East Lansing, is vice president of claims with Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Co.
where he has worked for since 1998. He has worked with Atlantic Mutual Insurance Co. and Hartford
Insurance Co. Jamnik earned a bachelors degree in business administration from Lewis University.
He will represent auto insurers doing business in the state and replaces Laura Pierman.
Reappointed:
Curtis Caid, of Brighton, is chief of police for the Livonia Police Department. He began his career in
law enforcement in 1979 and has held various positions within the Livonia Police Department,
including uniform patrol officer, detective, uniform platoon sergeant, detective sergeant, and officer in
charge of the intelligence bureau. Caid earned an associate degree from Schoolcraft College, a
bachelors degree in criminal justice from Madonna University and attended law enforcement
advance leadership programs at Northwestern University, Central Michigan University and Michigan
State University. He will continue to represent law enforcement officials.
Joseph Dolan is a national representative for the American Federation of Government Employees.
He has more than 33 years of experience as a union representative and worked with the U.S.
Department of Defense. Dolan earned an associate degree in liberal arts from Wayne County
Community College and a bachelors degree in business from Wayne State University. He will
continue to represent purchasers of auto insurance in the state.
Monsignor Russell Kohler, of Detroit, is the pastor of both Ste. Anne de Detroit and Most Holy Trinity
Church. In 1974, he established the Pope John XXIII Hospitality House for cancer patients. Kohler
earned a bachelors degree in English and philosophy from Sacred Heart Seminary. He studied
theology at St. John Seminary and at the University of Detroit. He will continue to represent
purchasers of auto insurance in the state.
Fausto Martin, of Canton, has been vice president and chief claims officer for Auto Club Group since
2007. He has more than 30 years in the auto insurance industry previously working with with
SAFECO and GEICO. He earned a bachelors degree in politics from the Catholic University of
America. He will continue to represent auto insurers doing business in the state.
Michael McCabe, of Oxford, is the undersheriff and chief deputy for the Oakland County Sheriffs
Office. McCabe has more than 33 years of law enforcement experience. He earned a bachelors
degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University. He will continue to represent law
enforcement officials.
Members serve four-year terms expiring July 1, 2018. Their appointments are subject to the advice
and consent of the Senate.
