INDIA OPPORTUNITIES FOR
GLOBAL INVESTMENT IN TEXTILES
10-12th Dec. 2014
VENUE: Town Hall, Sector 17, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
Conference Theme:
India peaked in manufacturing and trade of global cotton textiles
during 1200-1800 AD. The entire world of textiles followed what India
did till that period. The Industrial Revolution spearheaded by Britain in
the 18th Century ushered in a radical change in the manufacturing of
textiles through mechanization. The leadership changed hands and
India took a back seat. The world of textiles, in the recent period has
been passing through a newcycle primarily due to relocation of textile
industry wherein India and China have emerged as global leaders once
more. Many influencing factors favoring India include the significantly
enhanced availability of cotton and man-made fibers topped by very
conducive national and state textile policies have put India back into a
position of a great leap forward. Under the new textile incentive
schemes, an investment of over USD 40 billion has already taken
place in the last decade and Gujarat alone is expecting to attract an
investment of above USD 4 billion in the coming few years. Moreover,
looking at Chinas recent controlled and somewhat conservative
thrust in investment in Textiles, India would certainly attract additional
investments to propel domestic market as well as the International
textile trade.
Indian textile machinery manufacturing sector, though much late in
terms of its entry with modern technological developments, is having
a fresh look to re-position itself. Gujarat, being the most happening
state today in India that also offer a highly industry-friendly
environment turns out to be a natural choice to have a global meet to
deliberate the investment opportunities in the rapidly growing textile
sector of India. Textile Industry once again is excited and poised for
large investment growth leading to appreciable employment
opportunity.
Diagonal Consulting (India), a Strategic Consulting firmin association
with Textile Excellence, a leading textile publication are jointly
organizing a global meet on 10th, 11th and 12th December 2014 to
explore the huge potential India offers today. Fibers & Textile Industry
stalwarts, Strategy Planners, Textile Machinery sector, Policy makers,
are all invited to deliberate the way forward for India to achieve a
leadership position in the field of Textiles.

Agenda:
The year 2005 was always considered to be a turning point in favour of
the Indian textile industry due to abolition of Quota. At the same time,
rapid economic changes in the late 90s and the beginning of the new
millennium were to grow the domestic textile market significantly.
India, in-spite of some inherent advantages could not rise to the
occasion to guide the changes in its favor.
The present global meet on the backdrop of todays India would like to
address the global scenario, strategic issues, shift in the product-
market mix, new technologies and their impact on the competitive
edge of Indias textile value chain and finally what makes Indian textiles
a sustainable proposition. National and state level textile policies are
also to be addressed for investors better appreciation and confidence.
Speakers
Distinguished thought leaders from the Textile industry in India &
Overseas, Policy makers, Research & Academia will share their
