Tata Teleservices: The Values Network

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) is a part of the Tata Group, which stands for its heritage, integrity,
values and the pioneering spirit, which the group has demonstrated for a century. The Vision, Mission
and Values articulated by TTSL have been set in a way that they provide a clear sense of direction to
employees and are also inspirational in nature. These are communicated and shared with the employees
from the moment they are selected right through the entire employee life cycle. The company stands as
ethical in the eyes of its employees, with a good brand and corporate image, it finds its top management
free and easy to approach, with expectations and responsibilities as clearly defined and communicated.
Ranked #35 in the Great Place to Work Institutes Study, #3 in the Industry Category of the
Telecommunications sector, TTSL has also been recognized in the Special Category of Excellence in
Corporate Social Responsibility.
Key performance attributes at TTSL are described as CRISP which stands for Customer Focus,
Responsibility for Results, Initiative with Speed, Self confidence with Consciousness and Passion for
Achievement. Hiring of new talent is based on these attributes. The organization has a Mentoring
Program which was launched in an endeavor to align new trainees with organizational goals. The
process is simple yet effective; a senior leader adopts a role of a mentor to groom a junior colleague.
There is continuous support and guidance from the senior which aids the new entrant to be an effective
contributor and shape up to be a future leader in the organization.
DIALog is the monthly Internal Newsletter which covers the latest internal and external news about
TTSL. Apart from TTSL news, there are specific write-ups by the senior management, communicating
pertinent and relevant issues and news. DARPAN, the Employee Engagement Model of TTSL covers
various aspects of employee work life namely Alignment, Assignment, Engagement, Empowerment and
Pride.
E-Pulse is another innovative tool, which was created to enhance engagement of employees from the
moment they join by staying in touch and taking feedback from them from the time they join the
organization. It is an IT-enabled engagement tool to ensure that assimilation of new employees happens
in a smooth manner.
Gyan Tarang enables the employees to self-nominate themselves as Internal Trainers in their areas of
expertise and impart knowledge to the fellow employees. TTSL strongly supports the Tata Group
program called SCIP (Second Career Internship Program) which enables women who have taken a break
from their career, to restart their career. They work on a 6-month project in any one of the Tata Group
companies and then confirmed as permanent resources.
In Corporate Social Responsibility, the organization spearheaded Project Drishti which is an effort to
provide visually impaired people with equal opportunities and make them self-reliant and economically
independent. TTSL has set up two call centres under the banner of Drishti. Another initiative is Prakriti
which is TTSLs Eco Club. This employee volunteer club has been formed with the aim of creating
awareness and an environmentally conscious workforce which in turn influences those around them to
care for the planet. The club undertakes various initiatives like tree plantation, jute bag (or other
environmentally friendly bags, instead of polythene) use, and awareness sessions in communities etc.
