Apply to Azadi Instigators

Do you believe you can transform the world? Help make young girls and boys more
knowledgeable, confident, and love their bodies? We think so.

Azadi is a social enterprise with the mission of making menstruation a non-issue in India.
What does that mean? We feel that if young girls and boys are empowered with the correct
information about their bodies, they will grow up to be more confident, more in tune with
their own physical, mental, and emotional needs, and in turn more responsible and
contributing members of their communities.

Girls, specifically, will have the tools to break out of oppressive traditions and pursue their
aspirations when they are no longer bound by needless shame during periods.

What are we looking for?

We want young, committed leaders to deliver empowering puberty education sessions to low-
income youth in Mumbai. If you believe that spreading knowledge is the first step to a
revolutionizing our society, we want you on our team.

I have a job/classes. How much commitment is it?

We know that you are busy apart from the day-long intensive training session in August, it
will be 2-4 hour per week volunteer engagement from September to November.

Desired Qualities:

Creative and proactive You, as an Instigator, will be our eyes and ears in the
classroom we are constantly developing and growing, and your fresh insights and
ideas will significantly contribute to a fledgling venture.
Clear communicator You dont have to be a charismatic speaker, as long as you can
speak confidently to a group of youngsters who will have a lot of questions.
Humble We know that there are many things we do not know about the situations of
our students - humility allows us to see and understand more.
Nimble Our Instigators are resourceful problem-solvers and can think on their feet
in out-of-the-ordinary situations.
Professionality Because we are making commitments to schools, Azadi Instigators
will be held to high standards of professionalism. If an Instigator does not show up, we
will have a class of rowdy teenagers to answer to.
What will I get out of it?
A lot more than you put in. You will develop immeasurable tangible and unseen benefits
through your fellowship, including the following:
leadership skills
confidence and poise in communication
ability to improvise and adapt in response to audience
interaction with low-income adolescents (an adventure in itself!)
experience working with a social venture with a global perspective
opportunity to contribute your ideas and creativity to a fledgling venture

Who knows? This may just inspire you to take the leap into social entrepreneurship.
