Coffee Cup
Ladies, you did bang-
up-job on this newslet-
ter. The paper, the
picture and the stories
were really good and
kept me interested from
cover to cover. Not that
you haven't before, but
this one was special, I
really enjoyed it.
~ Kent F. Olathe, KS
I just love the look and feel of the Coffee Cup.
You guys are rocking the house.
~Larry Black, Program Director, Norton Valley Hope
I came through Valley Hope a year ago and it was the best thing
I have ever done. The program, staff and counselors were great.
I am still working my program and sober. Thanks to VH.
I will be attending Atchison renewal day to pass along words of
encouragement and to pick up my "Painted Cup"
~Darren E.
I think you guys are doing awesome. I love the new Coffee Cup
layout. I would like to see more stories from patients that have
graduated the Valley Hope Program whether it would be
Residential, IOP, or Continuing Care. Keep up the good work
ladies. You guys rock.
~Daniella R. Oklahoma City, OK
Just read the latest edition of Coffee Cup. I do like the bright
"happy" colours. Lots of good articles as well. I can see nothing
that needs changing at this time
~ Eddie T. Alumni GVH
Great issue. I guess I am from the old school. Could you send me
a hard copy please? I prefer reading them this way and then my
wife can read them also. Thanks.
~Gerry L. We got you on the mailing list.
Good morning, The CUP looks great. The improvements are
stunning. Keep up the good work
~John H. Breckenridge, CO
Thank you for your continued efforts in making the Coffee Cup
available to us all. I love the color and layout of the new edition.
However, I found I could not read the comic or one of the letters
in this issue. The print is VERY small in the entire issue and
made it very difficult for me to read. But I LOVE IT! Keep up the
GREAT work!
~Libby H. Thanks Libby! We are working on resizing the text.
Great job on the Summer 2014 Coffee Cup. The color is very nice. The Family Matters article by Donna Schwartz was
really good as well as the Spotlight on the 12 steps. I also like the back page response to summertime fun and the
cartoons. I would like to see more Carry the Message from alumni especially related to the solution. I think it would
be nice for people to give feedback on going to approved conventions, conferences, workshops etc.
~Mary Jo
Keep it up! Great job with the publication. Stay cool. Its hot in Yuma, AZ.
~Mikey W. Yuma, AZ
I like it. Very easy to read.

Opiateaddiction,whichincludesaddictiontoheroin,aswellasmanyprescription

AccordingtotheFDA(FoodandDrugAdministration)website,Suboxone[andarelateddrug,Subutex]are
the first narcotic drugs available under the Drug Abuse Treatment Act (DATA) of 2000 for the treatment of
opiate dependence that can be prescribed in a doctors office. This change will provide more patients the
opportunitytoaccesstreatment.

HelloRecovery,
Ill steal your soul
Make you feel whole
Im the door to down below!
Whats my name?
I like the cash
The strange piece of ash
The runway to your crash!
Whats my name?
The base to the beat
Muscles on the street
The grit in your teeth!
Whats my name?
Im the cries of your child
The reason to go wild
Still taking your smile!
Whats my name?
Im the evil in levels
Running with Rebels
Im down with the Devil!
Whats my name?
Ill lead you to the dark
Then be gone like a spark
Gnash of the teeth before the bark!
Whats my name?
I rob you of your peace
My dreams from beneath
Your will is my release!
Whats my name?

Balloon Release is a new
tradition to represent hope and new
beginnings.Everyonegatheredatthe
end of the party and was encouraged
to think of something they needed to
let go of, pray for and be thankful for
and then we released the balloons.
This was a great ending to a great

hurting, so be there for them as best you can with

What will I do if my kids start going down the same path
of addiction?

If one of my kids started down the
samepathasme,Iwouldmakesure
my side of the street was clean and
my program very solid, because just
aswecanpassonaddiction,wecan
also pass on recovery! I would run,
notwalktoAl-anon!

IamamemberofAAandAl-Anon(doublewinner).Forthe
teen headed toward addiction of any type, I suggest
Ala-Teen. Find a meeting in your area and take the teen-
ager and maybe a friend of theirs (comfort level for the
teens) to a meeting. If there is an Al-Anon meeting at the
samehour,attendthatgroupyourself.Itworks.Continuethis
