Montalvo Expands Education Programming in 2010

Kids’ Camps Throughout the Year, After-School Programs and

Adult Classes Now Offered at Montalvo

SARATOGA, Calif. – Montalvo Arts Center, a nonprofit arts organization with a mission dedicated to fostering
community engagement through the creation and presentation of multidisciplinary art, announces a substantial
expansion of its arts education programs in 2010. Currently offering approximately 40 education programs per
year in children’s theatre performances, art workshops and summer camps, Montalvo has doubled its
programming in performing and visual arts camps during the school year (coinciding with school breaks), after
school art programs, and a wide variety of classes for adults.

For more than 30 years, Montalvo’s education department has offered master classes for students, children’s
performances from renowned theatre companies, performing arts camps during the summer season and, most
recently, a teen program where students work with an artist over a 10-week period, culminating in an event to
showcase their work. In 2010, Montalvo’s expanded programming will offer:

- Five innovative after-school and weekend arts classes

- Five themed winter and spring arts camps (as well as its regular schedule of summer camps)
- Eight new classes for adults ranging from poetry to yoga to formal arts instruction
- A multifaceted Open House, including Open Artists' Studios, Villa and Garden tours and a Student Arts
Showcase plus more
- The new Final Fridays, free monthly events that showcase the work of a resident artist from the Lucas
Artists Residency Program

“Bringing arts education to children is a vital part of Montalvo’s mission,” said Angela McConnell, executive
director at Montalvo. “Schools are tightening their budgets in this challenging economy and music and art
programs are being eliminated. We’re pleased to serve as an important resource for parents to introduce their
children to the arts. For adults, Montalvo has always been a destination for its wonderful concerts and
compelling arts programming. We are especially excited to offer new adult classes to encourage engagement
through a broad diversity of classes and events.”

Tickets for all events are available through the Montalvo Box Office; some are available through
Ticketmaster.com. Ticket buyers can learn more at www.montalvoarts.org.
