Grade Repair

1. Kennesaw Mountain High School will be participating in credit recovery through student
initiated remediation for students who made a failing grade (69 or below) on a unit test in an
EOCT class. Recovery will be done through retesting of unit content material or an online
assessment. The student must attend a Saturday session (dates to be determined by the
school) to take the retest within the timeframe determined by the teacher. Alternate
retesting plans may occur if the Saturday sessions are not compatible with the return date of
the test. The retest must be completed on the determined retesting date following the return
of the original unit assessment. For example, the unit 1 retest can not be taken during the unit
2 retest date.
a. Procedure
i. Student receives a failing grade (69 or below) on a unit test.
ii. Student will ask for a remediation plan for the test from his or her
teacher. This should include making corrections to the original test and
reworking any provided test reviews. It is the students responsibility to
seek help on concepts not understood on the original test.
iii. Teacher will provide the pencil and paper retest or the online Nova Net (or
other online resource sections) as appropriate for the student to complete
during Saturday session.
iv. Teacher will notify the Saturday recovery teacher of the assignments.
v. Student will complete provided pencil and paper study guides and make
corrections to the original test and complete online quizzes if applicable prior
to the Saturday recovery class.
vi. Students cannot take their retest until Saturday under the supervision of the
recovery teacher.
vii. Student will attend the Saturday recovery sessions promptly at 8 a.m. to noon.
viii. Saturday Recovery teacher will check quiz grades if appropriate. If all work
indicates that the student has been successful, the teacher will approve the
student to take the first test (NovaNet only).
ix. The maximum grade for pencil and paper retests is 70%. If a student scores an
80 on all NovaNet tests assigned, the Saturday recovery teacher will notify the
students teacher that all tests were 80 or higher.
x. The remediation teacher will notify the students teacher of the scores, and
those that pass with an 80 or better will have their failing test grade changed
from the failing grade (69 or below) to a 70.
The syllabus is a working document and as new information is obtained from the school or county, any
changes and amendments will be posted to the blog.
